    1. Popeye's
    1a. Chick-fil-a

    I like Popeye's for straight-up chicken-on-the-bone. For a sandwich, give me Chick-fil-a any day.

    (I voted for Popeye's...)

Chicken Kitchen in the Village gets my vote, but that is roasted chicken which i actually prefer to fried. For fried chicken, I would have to go with the fried chcken sandwiches at Chic-fil-a.

How the hell do you leave off Frenchy's!? It's a Houston institution!

Cane's. Didn't realize how much I took their awesome chicken tenders, dipping sauce, toast and sweet tea for granted until moving to Virginia.

I voted for Zaxby's too; had to move from Texas to Alabama and they're all over the place here. Never seen one in TX though.

Thought about voting "other" and writing in Abner's - they're great - but sure most of y'all wouldn't have heard of it. It's mainly a Mississippi place.

I judge the chicken places by their chicken strips or sandwiches. Never been a fan of having to gnaw it straight off the bone.

That place is way mediocre. I tried the one on Westheimer near Voss. Terrible sauce and their tenders are nothing special.

    Chick-Fil-A blows them away.

This poll is evil! How can you make me choose between Chik-Fil-a and Popeyes? Who am I, Sophie?

The best fried chicken is the stuff I fry myself........'course, I don't get to do that much anymore. Here in Houston, I really like Frenchy's......though sometimes the pieces are sparrow sized and a bit too salty without enough other seasoning. Popeye's is pretty good and reliable, but when Frenchy's is "on" they beat Popeye's by a mile. The best fried chicken I think I've ever had in a restaurant was believe it or not..........at Benno's on the seawall. We went there shortly after Ike when not much else was open (or even had electricity), and they put out some incredible chicken.

Finally, I have to mention this place. I can diss Dallas with the best of them, but if this place opened up in Houston, I would welcome them with open arms. I'd prefer a bit more spice on my chicken than they do, but it is still really good, and their sides are just awesome. That place is: Babe's.
