Even as a kid, I loved cartoons with long story arcs. Duck Tales and Ninja Turtles had decent 4-5 episode stories. I liked waking up earlier for school to watch Conan the Adventurer. That 2 or 3 year show had a continuous story with growing characters. Then there were the Sunday TV shows that didn't hit the big networks and were played on channel 20. Captain Planet, Exosquad, and other cartoons that were too obscure to remember.

Anyone remember Gargoyles? That was a memorable series to me from the Diznee afternoon. There was a time travel plot with hints early in the season and a final payoff in the last 3rd or 4th season.

And who could forget the great comic to cartoon conversions in the 90s? Batman was the best and deepest. X-men was cool. Spiderman and Silver Surfer had its moments.

I vaguely remember GI Joe and Transformers. Their stories kinda blended together like a lump of soap pieces.

Nowadays, I can't stand watching American daytime cartoons. Thank goodness for the net and cable for a geek to watch good cartoons with entertaining stories...

To be fair, all of my friends watched Thundercats as teenagers for the simple fact that they would actually eliminate characters. It was the first time we'd seen it. I believe their next nemisis was the Lunatics, but the fact that they killed their old mumra was bad-ass, at least to us teenagers watching at the time.

To be stupid, it was like a soap opera to us. Cartoon people never die?!? Thundercats proved us wrong, and it was pretty damn cool.

Here's the finale of Mummra, and the beginning of the Lunatics saga back in the 80's.

I watched pretty much any cartoon on T.V. Back in the 70's and early 80's they were only on Saturday mornings, and they seemed so magical, like Christmas every week. I still watch cartoons, but I agree with most posters- they just ain't as good as they used to be.

I can't believe that G.I. Joe and Transformers had to wait till page 2 to get mentioned! Speed Racer was a great one too.

Disney really had some quality stuff in the late 80's and early 90's. Ducktales and Gargoyles were fantastic.

I REALLY can't believe that Tom and Jerry hasn't been mentioned. Heck, there are still a lot of classics that haven't been mentioned yet.

I used to like Pokemon series but that was until I figured out exactly 16:32 minutes into each show, Team Rocket was always the ones behind the schemes. It was only to be confirmed at 18:22 when Team Rocket is once again "blasted off."

I don't like reposts so I meticulously checked this thread after I read your reply. The only repost I made was Voltron. My bad on that one, I got caught up in the moment and got sloppy. All of the other cartoons just commented on were comments, not reposts. NONE of the other youtube cartoons I posted were posted in this thread before, INCLUDING Tom & Jerry. Do your homework next time you correct someone.

That said, I did miss your Godzilla posting and completely forgot about that one. Nice catch.

Upon further review, both the Herculoids and Josie in the Earth mode had not been shown. (But my point was that I had a lot in that one snippet over ther)

However! I will try to dupe thee... You need to stop that Pigeon!

Well I'll offer up Mighty Mouse the New Adventures -

I couldn't find my favorite episode, but they are all good. In my favorite episode there is a character named Mole Momma who has baby moles attached to her teats and then shoots them off at her opponents.

Any cartoon that does that is great.

Ralph Bakshi is great, and this series helped launch the career of the creator of Ren and Stimpy

    Here it is.

    <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qYKKhreSwGk&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qYKKhreSwGk&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

There is also the Ed Grimly cartoon which often featured appearances by other SCTV alum. Any cartoon that references Joyce DeWitt in a humorous way is terrific. Also his fish is a Montgomery Cliff inpersonation. I couldn't find any clips of it, but it was a great cartoon.

I think everyone covered the basics of my childhood:

    GI Joe
    Transformers
    He-Man
    Voltron
    Robotech
    Thundercats
    Silverhawks
    Super Friends (aka Justice League)

    Slightly more obscure:
    Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors
    Centurions

Oh another one, I don't know if anyone mentioned Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids or the Real Ghostbusters.

I appreciate all the YouTube videos, but I'd prefer labels so I don't have to wait and watch each one just to find out what it is.

So many good ones. In NO particular order

    1. Tom & Jerry - This is one of the only cartoons that I still LOL when I watch it.

    2. The Real Ghostbusters - One of my absolute favorites as a kid. I used to love the villains on that show. They would get so creative.

3a. Duck Tales - woo woo
3b. Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers - Gadget was such a damn tease to Chip and Dale
3c. Tailspin - Baloo & Don Carnage, how could you go wrong

    4. Gummi Bears - Bouncing here and there and everywhere

    5. Smurfs - Has anyone even mentioned them yet!!!

    6. Heathcliffe - I can't believe no one mentioned him yet not to mention his less charismatic counterpart Rif Raff

I could go on for a while.
