Well the hangout has been talking about music quite a bit lately whether it is Eminem or having an alternative tournament or another of what you are listening to, so you knew it was just a matter of time before I did another one of these type of threads. The Beastie Boys (King Ad-Rock, MCA, and Mike D) are the ONLY rap group I enjoy because as they have progressed, rap is just a part of their ever changing arsenal. Of the 5 top alternative acts from the last 15 years or so, they rank right up there with Beck, Radiohead, Wilco, and Sigur Ros. At least according to me. I have to get their last 3 albums and I am hoping that there are people here (mc mark?? across110thstreet??) who can give me more insight on their last 3 albums. But their 1st 3 albums are all classics and there are many favorite tracks for me. But I would have to say "So What'cha Want" is my favorite song by them. I was so happy to hear that sampled on Beck's 1st song off "Guero" in "E-Pro". Other favorite Beastie songs (1st 3 albums only for me): Jimmy James Stand Together Hey Ladies High Plains Drifter (love the sample of the Eagles song, "Those Shoes") Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun Hold It Now, Hit It Paul Revere Rhymin & Stealin (believes uses the drum beat from "When the Levee Breaks" by Zeppelin) She's Crafty (great sample of "The Ocean" by Zeppelin) What are your favorite Beastie Boys songs?

I don't really care for their style. I guess the only song I could really stand was Intergalactic Planetary. Paul Revere is pretty cool I guess. Don't like much of anything else they do.
Call Paul's Boutique and ask for Janice and the number is (718) 498-1043 I did. Samples became outlowed. What more can you do?
I like too many to list, but here's a few of the tracks near the top: Sabotage So What'cha Want Intergalactic Ch-Check It Out Brass Monkey
I don't mind them, but I don't like their being mentioned as a classic rap act with the likes of Tribe, De La Soul, etc...
