Start with "Staring at the Sea" which is their greatest hits CD for the period of 1979-86. Then move onto "Disintegration" followed by "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me". Any songs off those 3 albums should do the trick. Some of you are listing solo artists - that is not the intention of the thread, just bands. We will save the solo artists for another time. I was hoping Win and jo mama would post in this thread. And even though they only did 2 albums, I have got to mention the Stone Roses as an honorable mention - they would have been in my top 10 if they had done more than 2 proper albums.
I find it quite impossible to make a short list of bands tha I like... but like TDogg.....Iron Maiden has to be on top... Iron Maiden Queensryche Judas Priest Rush Dream Theater Black Sabbath The Mighty Zepp Ozzy's Blizzard of Ozz(only the first 3 albums, then they sink down the list rather quickly) Van Halen Fates Warning Tesla Savatage Queen Styx Lynyrd Skynyrd Megadeth Foghat Pantera Metallica(only until And Justice For All,then they sink way down the list) AC/DC Helloween Dio Great White Guns and Roses Cheap Trick top 10 are pretty mush set in stone....but the latter ones on the list are real close as far as favoritness goes. there are tons more I really enjoy on a daily basis, this is just the hard rock/progressive rock list
I am 10 for 10 with my bands being from England, so that makes me a severe anglo-phile. Oh and how the Clash has sunk down my list - should have mentioned them as an honorable mention, but there was a time when they were top 5 (as was Smashing Pumpkins and another should have been named honorable mention by me in Massive Attack).
wow this is going to be tough.... 1. Coldplay 2. Rush 3. Radiohead 4. Queensryche 5. U2 6. Weezer 7. Smashing Pumpkins 8. Dave Matthews Band 9. Toadies 10. Foo Fighters
Great list!!! Only one I can't say I really care for too much is DMX. But otherwise, I think you and I probably have quite a few CDs in common . . .
1. The Police 2. Ben Folds Five 3. Weezer (first 2 albums and all B-sides) 4. Red Hot Chili Peppers (pre-Blood Sugar Sex Magic) 5. Earth Wind and Fire 6. Rush (from my high school days) 7. DMB 8. Death Cab for Cutie 9. Smashing Pumpkins 10. Chic (I loves me some Nile Rogers on guitar)

Beatles Zepplin Who Stones Allman Brothers Little Feat SRV Hendrix Clapton Steely Dan But you know your just not getting that much new music out of the dead ones anymore so I can't say that I spend a lot of my cuurent listening time on them.
Pink Floyd Stevie Ray Vaughn Alice in Chains Rush Led Zep AC/DC U2 Kansas Styx The first Meatloaf album I just can't get into the music that's out now and find myself listening to sports radion all the time, because of my short trip to and from work.
My musical tastes have changed quite a bit over the last 20 or so years. But the bands that I have liked the longest would probably be the ones that I consider my faves. That would be: 1. The Beatles 2. The Rolling Stones I have had lesser periods of interest in Led Zeppelin, The Who, U2 (pre-1990), REM (pre-1990), Chuck Berry, and Buddy Holly. The latter two I still like a lot. Other than that, I like a bunch of stuff that is more obscure. Now, I tend to go more for blues/Americana (whatever that is) stuff.
