Kajagoogoo happened to have one of my bass-playing influences playing for the, thank you very much. As for Tears for Fears, Elemental and Seeds of Love speak for themselves. Jellyfish, NOT Bouffant Jellyfish.
Tears for Fears is among the most UNDERRATED bands of all time. Partially because of the era they played in, and who they get grouped with because of that. Woman in Chains is among the best pop songs I've ever heard in my life.
1. Beatles 2. Eagles 3. Steely Dan 4. Little Feat 5. Queen Honorable mention: Genesis, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Mothers of Invention, Talking Heads, ELO, Parliament, The Who, Incubus, Violent Femmes, White Stripes, Sly and the Family Stone, Dixie Dregs, Yes. Notable Omissions (primarily solo acts): The Wailers, Double Trouble, DMB, Elton John.
What is really sad is that most of the bands mentioned here started in the 60s and the 70s. Bands like Steely Dan and Queen wouldn't make to their second album in today's music scene. Sad, really.
Rolling Stones Guns N Roses Red Hot Chili Peppers U2 Journey (don't even start with me on this one) Honorable Mentions: Pearl Jam STP Aerosmith Van Halen
I've seen Jerry Cantrell live on two seperate occassions. The second time I had to sit through Nickelback (ugg). Cantrell is alot like seeing Alice in Chains but without the overdoses.
Man, you always leave out people...I saw a tribute band for The Smiths last night (how funny is that)...they were great. Other people I stupidly forgot: Booker T and the MG's (the house band for Stax), Sly and the Family Stone, Flaming Lips, Pulp, Guided by Voices, Weezer and Queens of the Stone Age. Hard to narrow it down to five, isn't it?
No particular order..... Counting Crows +Live+ Better than Ezra Rage Against the Machine Outkast Honorable Mention: Incubus, Beastie Boys, Collective Soul, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band
