Of course Scola. Without Steve Francis, we still have two above average PG. But without Scola, our PF is a big hole.
Scola, I am happy we got Francis but I have wanted Scola since 2002. 1. Luis Scola 2. Rick Adelman 3. Steve Francis 4. Mike James 5. Aaron Brooks 6. Getting rid of JVG/V-Span so the BBS can heal. DD
I voted for Francis, but I think the most important addition was Adelman. Without him none of those other players would have come. Maybe Scola, but JVG would have not wanted any part of a rookie, Mike James, or Francis. If one of the options was LOSING JVG - it would win by a landslide.
I picked Adelman because with Van Gundy, some of the other things may have not happened. We would have gotten James because that was in the works last year. Francis may not have come back. We probably would have traded Aaron Brooks for some over the hill vet We would have gotten an over the hill PF instead of Scola. Bonzi would not have come back. Rafer would have still been our starting point guard. Now This is the most excited I've been about our team's chances since getting Yao. Go Rockets!!!!!!
The move to reacquire James has been lost in the shuffle, highlighted by the distinct possibility he's still penciled in to start come opening night. I think he'll mesh extremely well with Scola and Yao, which is the real concern considering the given chemistry we can expect from Battier and McGrady. It's impossible to break down the glut at guard. I can't wait to see how this plays out in preseason. From a different angle, I applaud the Rockets for their quickness in attempting to commercialy exploit the Scola signing; advertisements promoting his arrival are being frequented on the Spanish language channels in conjunction with season ticket packages, and although there's plenty of support from the Hispanic community, there's still a deep pool of conversions to be made in that market. They did a wonderful job with Yao in attracting more Asian-Americans, and they face a welcome challenge in taking advantage of Scola's possible appeal to the Hispanic community. I don't know how many home games they sold out last year, but I'll be extremely disappointed if they don't at least equal 30-36 in that department.
Adelman The architect Scola The PF Puzzle Piece Brooks The Future PG Puzzle Piece James The Current PG Puzzle Piece Francis I hope he has matured otherwise let him ride the pine
Francis has been my boy since Maryland. Welcome back, Franchise! Although, I'm really high on the Scola trade, and Brooks looks like a great pick. Dude, what a great offseason!
I voted Franchise, I havent watched more than 10 games a season since Francis left(from 99-2004 I watched every single game), but I will be watching all 82 Regular Seasons,10 Preseason, 16 Playoff games(cause we aint loosing baby, bring out the broom).
their career numbers don't mean anything. i was going to vote mike james but i'm intrigued by scola. i think he's going to be good.
