105 in my parent's mini-van (me driving). Hit 145 in my friends WRX STi. If I get a radar detector in the future, I might see how fast I can get my new car up to but right now I'm too worried about tickets.
i've got up to 135 in my 07 bmw 335 on the toll road here in austin. it's nice having brand new roads with zero traffic on them. also, i just got my upgraded piggyback ECU for the 335 that increases the boost to the turbos and should take it up to 350-360 hp. i need to get that installed this weekend
You guys are full of s***! 115 (a little more, probably 117) two days ago. I presume the OP meant "Fastest you've even driven on a public road."
155 in a Porsche Carrerra 4 in the mid 90s on 242 north of The Woodlands. I don't know what it is now, but back then it was a pretty empty 4 lane road (2 each way) with a big grassy divider in the middle, no lights or anything, and a nice stretch from 45 west to 1488 about 2 miles where there are a bunch of u-turns and one nice gradual turn, so we just went back and forth for about an hour. It was fun, but definitely stupid in retrospect. More recently I got a new Lexus IS350 up to about 130 on 249 just north of Willowbrook Mall.
155 on 59S out towards Sugarland at 3am the first week I got my new 07 'Vette back in March. Probably shouldn't have done that in the first week of ownership...
True story: Working a golf tournament at a local country club , they had a used Lamborghini Countach V12 as the hole-in-one prize. The Bud Light girls were working as the witnesses required by the prize insurance company. At the end of the tournament I had to go out and bring the car back in. There wasn't room in the cart we took out for all the Bud girls, so this all-day drunk, bleach blond siliconed beauty jumps in the car with me. It's only six blocks through the neighborhood to get back to the clubhouse and there is one 90 degree turn. I got the speedometer on the beast over 100 and the chick was just squealing with delight. That all took about 30 seconds then I tossed the keys back to the car lot guy and went back to cleaning trash out of the golf carts.
This guy owns all of you. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ovNkwiHJCIA&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ovNkwiHJCIA&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
This thing has that car beat. 400KPH top speed....and it's ELECTRIC!!! <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QS8jqmBh4M0&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QS8jqmBh4M0&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
On the track I broke 160 mph in a 99 Corvette. That was fun. I had a buddy in LA that I knew from when I worked at Edmunds that was a stunt driver and he'd show up all the time in exotic cars and take them through these canyon rides in Malibu, driving like a maniac. I think the most memorable was a Nissan Skyline (which was a right hand driver -- incredibly scary on the freeway changing lanes). But as for me, I got clocked doing 101 my last trip to Houston from LA in West Texas in a Hyundai Tiburon (so the cop said -- I found it hard to believe). He wrote 95 on the ticket and said he could have taken me to jail. I used to have a Camaro when I was 19...I don't think I need to say much more, but I made it from Houston to Santa Monica in 23 hours once in that thing. But I was usually pretty good about driving in cities....it was only on the open road that I'd get a heavy foot. I don't know why you can't drive faster on I-10 in West Texas.
110 in a 1998 Maxima down I-10 during a 14hr nonstop drive from Florida with my parents sleeping in the car. Only gunned it for 5min or so because I was slightly afraid they'd wake up. I drove around 90 all the way back though.
125 mph .... in a 04/05 Camry...rented. This was when I was around 22 year old. Traveling from Florida to Houston. Got pulled over during this trip but not for speeding, had my fog lights on-“disrupting traffic”, the ONLY time I’ve ever been pulled over. ……don;t mind others speeding unless they are weaving in and out of lanes, extremely selfish and immature…I find that in the U.S people tend to like traveling at the speed of traffic, around the speed limit. Here in Toronto, it’s nuts…too European for my taste….you’ve got people doing 130 km/hr – that’s sustained speeds, and others doing 95 km/hr all at the same time. It’s rare that the cops give tickets in the city limit highways, so people take advantage of it, trying to get home 5-10 minutes earlier, while risking not arriving at all…. idiots.
