While going to El Paso, in the middle of nowhere right before the mountains, I did 115 in an '89 Pontiac 6000. White.

This here gem of a car I had back in 1997.

Only about 110 in my girlfriends car. I was young, dumb, and probably had some alcohol in me (who am I kidding.........back then, I ALWAYS had alcohol in me). We were on a skinny, two lane road outside of Nacogdoches, it was night, and I turned off the headlights.......I was such a moron.

But it sure is crazy going that fast in pitch darkness.

I've always wanted a smoker... but old bike parts are too hard to find and way too expensive.

The ol honda's brakes were actually not bad for it's time, but the biased ply tires were woefully inadequate.

I think my next bike will be a 2008 ninja 250. You can ride it like you hate it, and not scare yourself silly... 60+ mpg as a bonus.

When all you wussies left town for Hurricane Rita, I hit Beltway 8 and there wasn't a soul around for miles. Got the Z up to 153 before cutting it off. Awesome feeling, but the adrenaline made my foot shake so much I could barely push in the clutch for the next 5 minutes.

In high school we "borrowed" my buddies dad's modified Lamborghini Countach and hit 185 on I-45 South heading to Spring Break. Did not like that at all. Almost peed a lil' bit.

We did get laid though, thanks to the car. That was pretty dope.

1980 Corvette, looked just like this one...

I was 16 flying way way way down Westheimer towards Cinco Ranch. I will never have any clue how fast I was going. Why? Because the government regulated the speedometer to only 85mph on that 80 model. So there was no way to tell. I definitely maxed that mofo out though! I feel like we are talking about the first time we got laid or something lol.

-BTW I wasn't 16 back in 1980 or anything. I just sport the classic cuz I got unique style like you wouldn't believe- :p

I did about the same on the autobahn. In my Grandfather's Mercedes Benz.

People were passing me. constantly. (Edit: I should say, passing me when i was going a more reasonable 100mph or so)

    :D

I go up to about 135 mph all the time (where it is legal here). I don't really feel too comfortable beyond that.

I'm assuming you were able to turn off the chip that makes the car shut off once you hit like I think 120?? Or are you talking about the old Z like 300ZX instead of the 350Z (because I know you own or did own a 350Z)?

I hit 110, I think twice, in my 350Z. Since then, I think the fastest I have gone is 90 and that was in the 4 cylinder Altima that I have now.

I was fine until about 120. After that I was a bit overwhelmed, and my grandfather and wife were about to pee themselves. My grandmother took it all in stride...

Those people passing me over the 120-130 mark had me bewildered.

Between Odessa and El Paso there are some GREAT stretches for gunning it. Last time I went to El Paso I was driving my sister's Passat and got up to 120 on one stretch.

My previous high was in high school. I did 115 on C-470 (Denver area) in my mom's Audi A-6 when some idiot in a Camaro thought he wanted to race me. Blew him away...

I've never heard of such a thing and I'm an active member on the Z forums. I believe it's governed at around 160 MPH or so.

Really - that is odd. About 4 or 5 people kept telling me that there was this automatic "shutoff" once the car hit 120 and the only way to get around it was to disable the chip. Now, I'm wondering if they were just talking out of their ass. Damn - I wanted to try to go faster than 120! ;)
