How dare you slander the Meximelt!! I would sell my wife into slavery for just one Meximelt...

Actually, I didn't know you could order a tortilla by itself with a side of cheese and beef. You think somebody would catch on.

I think my attitude came across more aggressive than I intended. I try not to cut people off, and if someone honks at me, I ignore it.

However.... I'm a strong believer in the "I'll do my part and you do yours." mindset. When traffic merges into my lane, I let one car in front of me. Conversely, when I merge into traffic, others should allow me in. When I order fast food, I should place my order clearly, politely, and without negatively affecting the people serving me, or other patrons. I therefore expect the restaurant to do their part (good food, good service, accurate order, timely manner).

    oh...... well... okay!

    I did rant a bit, didn't I?

Ah-ha! You bring up a good point! As a customer, it's my duty to make sure my order is clear. I can understand your frustration when a customer isn't clear.

Ok... for natural emergencies, I'll cut some slack to restaurants. But that's about it.

LMAO Head meet sand. Taco Bell knows that customers will frequent the store that makes their food the fastest, cheapest, etc. Managers and employees get bonuses based on speed, faster you go the more money you make, customer service goes to the back of the line no matter how many times it's written into the mission statement. You pay someone crap give them crappy hours, crappy benefits, no hope for a decent raise or promotion and you expect them to give you quality service? Yeah right.

I have only been fired from one job in my life and it was a freaking Diamond Shamrock, it was my second job (try finding an evening job that isn't crappy i.e. retail, fast food, security). I worked at the on Jones and 290 several years ago. We had the cheapest gas around so when my shift began at 3pm it would already be getting packed with customers. I was left alone to work the entire store. No matter how fast I went I could not get get the line to less than 5 people or so. Which means I could not restock the beer cooler (always a popular reason to b****) or throw more ice on the beer sitting out, etc.

The worst thing was the idiot customers who would pump $5 bucks in their tank hand me a $100 bill and expect me to break it. Hello did you see the sign on the door that says we have no more than $30 in cash on hand? I started trying to be more customer service oriented by keeping a few extra $20 in the drawer to break the larger bills and was eventually fired for it and for someone who called the 800 number because I had run out of ice one day!

Point being we are victims of our own success wanting everything faster and cheaper. Well doing so means someone has to pay the price in either lower wages or poor service.

I think Taco Bell and Diamond Shamrock would disagree with you. They expect you to deliver outstanding service for that low wage. If that's a problem or if that's a difficulty, then it's something you and the employer have to work out (whether that means you quitting, them firing or disciplining you, or you/them figuring out a solution). All that is employer-employee relations. If an employee is unhappy or unmotivated by his pay, that's an issue that should be dealt with between the employee and the employer, not the employee and the customer.

I agree with you in theory, however you're taking out the human element. On paper every employee no matter how poorly paid would bust his butt no matter how fast he was forced to move and no matter how much pressure he was put under by mgmt and customers. However that's not the way it will ever be. Think of it like socialism, theoretically sound but doesn't work out as well in real life.

I worked fast food (drive thru at Whataburger). I busted my butt like I was being paid $100 an hour. Why? well, BetterThanI stated it perfectly:

    1. I have a work ethic.
    2. I'd want [good] treatment if I was the customer
    3. If I didn't do my job, I'd get canned.

If I was unhappy with my pay, my options were to talk to my boss about it, try to invoke change, or quit. I NEVER lowered my quality of customer service.

    And lemme tell ya something...

That rule applies in ALL levels of business. If an employer pays you $80,000 and you're not happy because you feel that you should be paid $100,000... are you gonna lower the quality of your work because you feel that they're not paying you enough? I hope your answer is 'no' - lowering your quality of work is NOT the way to get paid more or to get a better job.

Those who lower their quality of work because of their unhappiness with their employer are doomed to never advance in their career.

Better learn that now, when you're flipping burgers, 'cause the rules are the same, but the stakes are a lot higher in the corporate world.

Though I appreciate your patronization I am already in the corporate world and never flipped a burger in my life. That being said I stated I did not lower my level of customer service I attempted to be more helpful to the customers by holding additional money in my drawer rather than forcing the customer to wait until I was given enough $20 by other customers to break his $100. Ask anyone who works retail/fast food and they will tell you that at some point they had to break a rule to satisfy a customer, I just got caught and fired. Yes I did mention to my manager that it was too difficult to keep up with the level of customers and keep them all happy. Also I had several gas runs because I could not keep watch over the pumps while also doing my other duties. My mananger told me there wasn't enough money to hire another person so do the best I could. I did and got canned for my efforts. But I never lowered my level of customer service.

I would never advocate lowering your level of customer service what the Taco Bell poster was trying to say and I agree with is you are set up to fail by the company. I would blame the company long before I blame the employee, most employees I encountered always went above and beyond the call of duty. Both as a coworker and a customer.

Hopefully we haven't gone so far off topic to be thrown to the D&D.

I voted the closing early, the subway by my house closes up at least an hour early!

Well, that was just one thing, service was slow and she was no where to be found...I tipped her something because I didn't want to be an ass on the first date, otherwise, I wouldn't have tipped her at all...I'm ass that way sometimes...Well, the date didn't turn out that great anyway, so maybe I should have been an ass..;)

I agree somethings like that happen, but when I went to the restroom (pass by the bar), margarita on the rocks were flowing...and of course, walking back to the table, there were plenty in sight...

Oh yeah, nothing sux more than going to the drive thru for food and its closed early....

Sorry - when I said "you" I wasn't referring to you specifically - it was more of a "one should learn this lesson now" type of statement. In fact, I think it's crappy that you got fired for trying to find a solution (keeping extra money for breaking 100's)...

I applaud you! (not sarcastic - I wish more fast-food and low-wage workers shared that sentiment)

    AAAAGH!!!

You idiot! You're giving up the best Taco Bell secret... The Cheeserito.

All you have to do is be polite and ask for a cheeserito. It was all the rage in the 80's, but they cut it out of their menu.

Just ask for a tortilla with mexican pizza sauce, onions, tomatoes, and every cheese they have back there. If yopu want to be ballsy, ask them to shove anything else in there. Hell, it's a burrito.

I have a friend who will order the nachos Bellgrande late at night, and he will double everything on there but the chips. Taco Bell will typically do your bidding, especially if it is random...
