I think it's off of Spicewood Springs or Far West.

My parents loved it when they were living there. Closest you could get to a genuine Chicago dog in Austin, they said.

I think they're all over the place. There's at least one in Pflugerville as well as Round Rock also.

Is this the same Lucky Dog as the authentic New Orleans Lucky Dogs? I remember begging for one from my parents everytime we walked around the French quarter... :)

Real cheddar doesn't come in a gun. That's why it sucks.

Exactly. I know I've said this before, but if I build a house, I'm SO gonna put a cheese gun into my kitchen.

Cool. I'll have to check it out soon. I work pretty close to P-ville, so if the Freak is right, I might be enjoying a Lucky Dog for lunch tomorrow.

Speaking of chili and cheese...Tookies in Seabrook makes a pretty good chili cheeseburger. Definitely a fork and knife job!

They had a weinerschnitzel in Lubbock. I always thought they were awful.

Also, nobody has said yet whether the Lucky Dog in Austin is the same as the Lucky Dogs they have in New Orleans. Is it?

man, so true about that HeB thing. i just came back from JCI. my first time there and tried the coneys. they were nasty. i usually go to HEB and buy a pack of buns, hotdogs, chili, onions, cheese, and jalepenos for about 5 bucks and make up to 8 chili dogs. i think i'm gonna stick to HEB.

You and Smokey are on crack. JCI has the best hot dogs ever, with a possible exception going to Lucky Dog's Sausage Dog in New Orleans.

Then again Lucky dogs are 1 lb. monsters. Not a true hot dog.

James Coney Island has the best hot dogs anywhere.

And I have lived in New York, too.:p

well, i dont' know what JCI you get your coneys from but i wasn't too impressed with mine. they were quite bland and i'm glad i got them on special b/c i couldn't imagine paying regular price for that crap i just ate.

even sonic's got better chili dogs.

    MadMax,

The best I've come to matching JCI coneys is at a place you've probably eaten at:

    Health Camp
