Sort of related story. I worked in restaurants through highschool and college and remember getting some strange request. One night a guy who's jaw was wired came in and requested a chicken salad sandwhich but needed it liquified. So I made a chicken salad sandwhich, our chicken salad had raisins, apples and cashews in it, on 12 grain bread, tomato, and lettuce then put it into the blender added some milk and pureed. I ended up serving it in a milkshake glass and even put an orange slice on the rim. It looked like a grey gritty milkshake with dark flecks in it. The waitress served it and told me later the guy loved it.
YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE RODEO BURGER!!! Pretty much every item on McDonald's drive-thru menu is secret. HORRIBLE layout. /billwalton
I would think the frustration of getting fast food personnel to make some unorthodox special treat out of substandard ingredients, that they probably have no desire to do, would probably outweigh the eventual payoff. Anyway here's a special ingredient you will find at KFC/Taco Bell, fast food junkies: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7yJSv85Bjls"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7yJSv85Bjls" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
If you ask the person at Jason's Deli for a menu of the discontinued items, they'll give it to you. I work there, and I've had many people order the Mav Wrap or Tejas Wrap, along with several sandwiches no longer on the menu. Also...if you go there with an open mind, I would recommend the smoked turkey on whole grain branola with provolone, sprouts, tomato, mayo and basil pesto. It is seriously the yummiest sandwich ever.
Try the Clifornia Dreamin' at Spec's Deli. 1/2 lb. turkey, havarti cheese, avacado, cucumber, sprouts, hot mustard and mayo on wheat. It kicks ass, and I don't even like health food.
I got a book full of "top secret recipes" that was printed in 1993...so, you hear about this internet thing? I don't think it will last...
Chicken Marsala at OG comes with potatoes now but you just say you want it old school and they make it with the linguine instead.
Pizza Sauce, Cheese, and Tortilla. You gotta ask them for a cheesorita, but if there isn't anyone old working there, then chances are you aren't going to get it. I love the cheeseorita, and at my taco bell I can pick one up any time since they know me and the manager over there is pretty old. It only costs about $1 for 1 cheesorita here.
At Mickey D's, get a double cheeseburger with big mac sauce. Big Mac lovers get a Big Mac minus lettuce, a extra piece of bread, and sesame seeds for 99 cents.
At Taco Bell they'll put mustard on anything you ask. Oh, and I heard Burger King will add a mango slice to your Whopper. And at Jason's Deli they will gladly put peanut butter on your Reuben.
Hmm. I just noticed that the new menu item is called a mcdouble. It is the same, except it has ONE piece of cheese, and its 99 cents. You can still get the double cheeseburger, but now it is 1.29.
