Sorry I don't know how to format this better. This is currently the case in a league I'm in. Of course you know which team is mine. Team W-L-T Pct Pts Team 1 8-1 .889 823.4 Team 2 7-2 .778 750.32 Team 3 6-3 .667 828.24 Team 4 5-4 .556 797.44 Team 5 5-4 .556 743.78 Team 6 4-5 .444 830.66 Team 7 3-6 .333 672.58 Team 8 3-6 .333 644.72 Team 9 3-6 .333 621.88 Team 10 1-8 .111 836.5
I've seen things similar to that. That's why I always play in leagues where the biggest payout goes to most point scored over the course of a season - an even bigger payout than the Super Bowl winner - to reward good drafting and to prevent people stuck in this type of scenario from being screwed out of their rightful winnings, b/c of quirks in the schedule.
That's the most frustrating thing about fantasy sports. You can do everything right and have a wonderful team but still lose because of the luck element. The same thing happens in poker with regard to bad beats. Unfortunately, the only way to completely remove the luck element is to play in strict roto or fantasy points non head-to-head formats. The element of luck will always exist in any head-to-head game.
One of my teams was in this same situation. I had the second most posts scored, but was like 2 games below .500. Thanks to my 4 game winning streak, I'm now fourth in the league in standings, but have the most points by about 110.
All the time. In the league that I run, the highest scoring team rarely even finishes in the money (1st - 3rd). There's always one team that has the misfortune of playing the team that gets the highest score every week.
I was sort of in that position this year I had scored the most points in an 8 team league and was 6th. Now I'm 3rd and still with the most points. It sucks but eventually it SHOULD even out...it's odd that you've only won 1 game....maybe you're catching everyone's best week when you're playing them
I am in a league with the 2nd most points and I am not in the top 5. Had been next to last for awhile. I guess the key is to try and negate your opponents receivers with a QB? I really don't know. Its painful when it happens.
I haven't really had it happen to me. But last year I played in a league that was ridiculously even from top to bottom (well 1-9 mostly) *1. Crack Fiends 8-6-0 .571 1258 W-2 3 35 *2. Fifth-n-Goal 9-5-0 .643 1269 W-3 4 17 *3. Freedom Rings 7-6-1 .536 1158 L-2 9 28 *4. Cheezehead 7-6-1 .536 1298 W-1 8 14 5. TOP SHOTTAS 7-7-0 .500 1363 W-1 6 20 6. Priest 7-7-0 .500 1310 L-1 10 17 7. Equinsu Ochas 7-7-0 .500 1223 L-1 1 14 8. Hoosier Daddy 7-7-0 .500 1120 W-3 7 19 9. Bizerka Blues 6-8-0 .429 1121 L-5 5 14 10. NYC KING 4-10-0 .286 1023 L-4 2 1
that happened to me about four years ago, second in points, last in my division, everyone just had their high point game against me, luckily points counted after recored for getting into my playoffs.
I'm running the parity league: WEST SIDE 1 F Street Flyers 6-3 L2 2 League City... 6-3 W6 3 TEAM NALGA S... 4-5 W1 4 Team Cemm 4-5 W2 5 The Reverends 4-5 L2 EAST SIDE 1 The Team Of... 6-3 W1 2 the toddzilla 6-3 L1 3 Team Standin... 4-5 W4 4 She hate me 3-6 L6 5 Team Little... 2-7 L1 Really only two people don't have a shot at the playoffs at this point. Weird.
Its happening to me right now. I'm in 8th place (out of 10) in W-L count, but have the 3rd most points. I've lost several weeks by just 1 or 2 points. Its quite frustrating.
Another question sorta unrelated - how common is it for someone to last the entire season in a Survival league? I just started doing it this year; we've had two different leagues. In the first one, everyone but me was out after 3 weeks I think. We started another one and the same thing happened. I'm still alive in both but don't know if that's even a big deal.
