I don't either, normally. The one exception is when players are coming off a bad year. If they don't show improvement in spring, I'm inclined to look elsewhere.
Drew puts up great numbers when healthy. If he can stay healthy he will be a top 5 outfeilder. Problem is he never plays a full year. Hoping this changes in Atlanta.
Crosby was part of my master plan. Damn it. Back to the drawing board. I would have drafted JD Drew as well. Eventually he'll turn the corner. This may be the year. Ken Griffey was having a great Spring too
About him electing not to have knee surgery this offseason. His knees are bad. Look for him to miss time this season.
Pfffft.. Vidro says that the knee injury which bothered him in the second half of 2003 has completely healed. Jose Vidro told the Montreal Gazette that he is completely healthy after battling a knee injury much of last season. Vidro said "We hired a special trainer, we did a lot of stretching, a lot of treatment to get the pain and the swelling away and to get the power back in the knee." He's fine. Besides, players in contract years don't let minor injuries slow them down.
He is in a contract year, what do you expect him to say about his injuries? A more unbiased view: Jose Vidro - 2B March 12, 1:14 p.m. Vidro is still around (for now), maybe because teams are scared away by his injury problems. To his credit, Vidro plays through the pain and still puts up nice stats (.310-15-65 in 2003) -- but that also leads to tough stretches where he struggles to reach base. Vidro opted against offseason knee surgery, so the same problems could pop up again.
How bout we throw out my first pick since I was unaware that the draft had actually begun? My average drops considerably.
How about we revisit this discussion in six months? I for one am not worried about Vidro at all, not even a little.
DH- That's great, we should take away that time drain in the first round...while we're at it I'll take away the lagtime from the two days I was out of town on vacation last week when I left a list, the two days I was gone the entire day and evening at the ACC tournament- where I made it a point to check in between sessions- and three days my parents came to stay at my place from Texas. Point is, we all have lives outside this draft, and just like everybody else, and I've still made my picks each of the last three or four years without inconveniencing anybody all too much (hopefully). So give it a rest. Every year somebody b****es about somebody taking too long but in the process forgets that this is a SLOW live draft. If Fade had wanted to put together a fast live draft he would have done so. Back to the more important debate of rosters, whether Vidro is a concern or not, Fade, you did gamble a bit with a handful of injured players, i.e. unit, hoffman, nen. If it pays off it'll pay off huge, but if they go down....
No spasms, bud. Just stiffness. Mike Sweeney (1B) KC was held out of yesterday's exhibition game as a precaution due to a tight back, according to the KC Star. "It's nothing serious,” Sweeney said. “I did some extra back exercises and took some extra batting practice (on Wednesday), and I just overdid it a little. Overall, I feel great.” 'Sides, I got Sweeney in the ninth frickin' round. It's not like he's my team's cornerstone. My squad is built around pitching this year.
No I meant 2. That first year you drafted a solid team. Last year you took several guys coming off bad years and injuries. They panned out and you won. Great work!
