Well, you didn't have a lineup in yet so I went with 4 starters. Last time I went with 3, The Aliens threw 4 against me. I wasn't taking that chance again. My relief pitching has been so pathetic I have to start 3 every week just to matchup with everyone else's 2. Jeremy Affeldt has been doing great so that may change.
Hey, I'm just running with my 5 best starters and 2 best relievers, and letting it fall to fate when they start and against who. I don't see how you guys rotate in and out, it'd drive me crazy.
Whether the Aliens strategy to put five guys out there every game makes sense or not is debateable, but it seems to have worked to this point. I don't see anything wrong with it either. He is allotted "X" number of games is using them as he sees fit. It may also backfire when only 1 pitcher out of that stable of 5 throws on a Fri.-Sun. game, but I guess we'll see. Yeah it sucks that he's trotting out four SP's against my two this time around, but good for him. Although I try to have an even matchup against my opponent there are times where it just doesn't make sense to do so. If I have three back of the rotation pitchers going against three of another team's aces I have no problem putting another SP out there to try and even things up. BTW, Behad, in our last game I threw 4 to your 3 only b/c I had originally set 3 SP's. I noticed that you hadn't set your lineup at the time. At the last minute I found that Schmidt had been rained out the night before so I knew that he'd carry over to the next game and I added him without even seeing how many SP's you had going. In the end it didn't play into the outcome since I had three go into the red anyway.
Perhaps, but through week 15 you've used 2 more SP games than I have. I will drop a guy out of my rotation at some point if I'm running way ahead on SPs.
cj, I am not b****ing about Sam's use of pitchers. His strategy is solid. Actually I'm mad at myself for using too many and having to cut back, costing me a few games. He was playing me for first place and I expected him to throw 4 guys at me. Hell, even if I had put Carpenter in my lineup I still would have lost. So I saved a pither's game. Sam's first place status is only temporary
Man I was sweating that one when I found out that the Braves decided out of nowhere to put Ramirez on the 15-day DL and then couldn't believe it when I saw Beckett get pulled after 2.2 innings. It's amazing how half of my pitching staff just up and checked themselves into the hospital over the past week. It's going to be hard to continue to fend off Fade with the rash of injuries my team has had lately.
Looks like Phi's big day has come at last: Mark Prior will come off the DL and start on Friday, the Cubs confirmed today. Unless you're currently getting by with a rotation of Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Curt Schilling and Roger Clemens, you'll probably want to activate Prior right away. May. 31 - 4:37 pm
Of course, every silver lining must have a dark cloud: The Astros placed Andy Pettitte (P) Hou on the 15-day DL today with a strained muscle in his left forearm. The move is retroactive to May 26. "This is uncharted territory for me. I've had a lot of elbow injuries before, but not a muscle injury," Pettitte told the AP.
4 days in the life of the Capitol City Hitmen pitching staff. Josh Beckett May. 31, 2004 - 1:27 pm et Marlins placed RHP Josh Beckett on the 15-day disabled list with a blister on his right middle finger. Beckett isn't thrilled that the Marlins were so quick to put him on the DL, but they're only doing what they think is best. If Beckett can get the blister taken care of, he should return in two weeks. Horacio Ramirez May. 30, 2004 - 1:18 pm et Braves placed LHP Horacio Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder tendinitis. Ramirez had been scheduled to start today, and there was no previous indication that he was hurting. The Braves have yet to comment on when he might return. Vincente Padilla May. 29, 2004 - 5:39 pm et Phillies placed RHP Vicente Padilla on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right elbow. Tendinitis is what the Phillies hope it is, anyway. Since the team needs Ryan Madson in the pen right now, Josh Hancock is the top candidate to replace Padilla in the rotation. Jake Peavy May. 29, 2004 - 7:16 pm et The Padres now believe that Jake Peavy will miss 4-6 weeks because of an inflamed elbow ligament. The Padres are saying that the result of the MRI on Peavy's elbow was good news, but they're projecting him to miss two or three more weeks that originally expected. If he feels soreness after he resumes throwing next month, then he could be shut down for a long time. May. 27, 2004 - 10:16 am et Padres placed Jake Peavy on the DL for the first time in his career and sent him back to San Diego for an MRI. ''We still feel it's tendinitis – we're doing this for precautionary reasons,'' manager Bruce Bochy said. Dennis Tankersley will start Saturday. Peavy would be eligible to come off the DL June 4.
