probably because jim morrison was a pompous douchebag. but i think the doors were a solid band, i just dont think they sniff a lot of the other bands from that period imo.
Steve Miller Band gets overlooked a LOT Jet Airliner The Joker Take the Money and Run Rock'n Me Fly Like an Eagle Jungle Love Swingtown
CCR is the end all be all in my book. I can NEVER get enough of them. They are by far the best (musical) thing I've learned/appreciated thanks to my dad playing them all the time when I was a kid.

jim morrison has got to be the most overrated front man of all time. a mysterious death at 27 is a ticket to martyrdom apparently. *roar*
Clapton, Bowie, Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and the Holding Co. (am I repeating myself?) edit- Frampton wish I hadn't started thinking about this
jealous...? as far as being a front man.. engaging an audience.. capturing an audience.. this guy even drew audiences by himself.. I can't see why you'd consider him "the most overrated front man of all time"... and if we're going to validate with praise Mick Jagger's unbelievably limited voice.. as being so contributive to the Stones sound.. for being.. "unique"... in the halls of Rock and roll.. then.. come on now.. and as conflicting , inconsistent the Doors' have been in their story telling.. and sometimes intentional general obtuseness and indirectness to maintain some sort of "mystery" about mister Morrison.. they're usually on common ground when they say who penned.. "The End".. "People are strange" "The Crystal Ship".. "break on through"... and though he didn't write "Light my fire".. he did pen the second verse.. and the point of mentioning that.. is that no other band sounded like The Doors.. for better or worse.. whatever your tastes may be.. and I just think Jim Morrison had plenty to do with that band's uniqueness.. by adding that extra dimension to the feel of the band.. whether you find it curious.. or obnoxious..
drox, welcome back. Im not gonna bother listing, just suffice to say if it had lots of guitars and a loud driving backbeat and its from the 60s thru the early 90s, I probably love it. add extra credit if your band had dual lead guitars.
