Yeah there are still many questions surrounding this team as it stands but in any case, Les and Morey have an obligation to the fans to put the team in the best possible position to win. They cannot have the mentality that we're probably not good enough to win it all so might as well just go into cash saving mode now.

Nobody thought Dallas would get knocked out in the first round last year and we clearly missed an opportunity to go deep. Luck is when such opportunity meets with preparation, ie. making sure you have another reliable scorer to go to besides Yao/Tmac when the offense goes dead. IMO, the front office has failed to prepare for the playoffs yet again and this roster is going to be overmatched by our stacked-up competitors in the West.

20 PPG...James could...Rudy Gay can...Unfortunately, Shane Battier has NOT sniffed 14 ppg since his rookie season. In addition to inadequate teammates, maybe it also requires the ability to put the ball in the basket...even when the defense is keying on you.

For all the insightful "company men" (and women) on the board please chronicle for us all the brilliant trades, drafts, and contracts that the Rockets made in the last twelve years since the championships. Only a small notepad will be needed. Now get a notebook and list the "mind-numbing," completely incomprehensible ones. Feel free to throw Moochie into the mix more than once.

According to you the Rockets are going to finish out the season 8-21.

This is an interesting idea. I remember how pissed I was after the Jim Jackson/David Wesley trade.

Irrelevant, that prediction was made when the team was playing so poorly even Clutch was making similar projections. The team was stuck at .500 so I projected 41-41, seemed fair at the time.

Afraid to take the challenge? You know and I know that the dumb contracts, drafts, and deals far outweigh the good ones. Why? CD was an excellent coach and a true basketball guy and Morey is no dummy, so where is this coming from?

valid point as allways, clutch. i didn't try to sneak that one by anyone.

i was going by trades made for this season.

i was thinking about going back another year or so of moves, but at what point would i draw the line? fans didn't want sampson to be traded for jordan on draft day either.

besides, if shane's defense is a major contributor on a championship team here wouldn't that validate the trade? maybe just a bit depending on how good rudy gay becomes.

Im glad francis is/was here, that ONE pheonix game he won for us was well worth what we paid him.

Apparently, the fans are staying home on gameday. Look at the lower bowl today.

does anyone want to own up to a poor knee-jerk reaction to the jackson trade?

It's one more against the fans in my book. But it's been debated.

I'll say until the end the Bobby Jackson trade was a lateral move and salary dump. It essentially corrected the Mike James and Steve Francis signings to give the Rockets what they should have had from day 1 - a solid backup for Rafer. It was definitely a team need though.

When bigger guards and wings start abusing the Rockets smalls though...but it hasnt happened yet. Like i said in another thread, the other positive of the trade is it frees up money to resign Landry.

The Rockets will add another player to deal with the lack of size at backup SG, whether its Barry or Bobby Jones or someone else.

My...how thing have changed around here.
I seem to recall many (maybe even most) clamoring for a REPLACEMENT for Rafer, not merely a backup.

Getting Brent Barry on board is huge!!! Man that would give the Rockets another 3 point shooter asside from Luther Head.

If the Right one don't get you the Left one will!!!

But, the board memebers were irate when Brooks was taken. They were even more upset about buying the 2nd round pick for a guy who should not have even been drafted, essentially a wasted late 1st round pick. And the jubilant cheers for getting James were rampant. The starting point guard set with Steve Francis. The last look of the horrid point guard of Raefer Alston, he would be traded for scraps or flat out cut before camp just to let him latch on to another team - the merciful fans thought this was at least owed to Alston.

The one coup of the summer that the fans found was Scola, that everyone was ecstatic and now proven justifiable. Spanoulis for Scola, the best trade since Drexler for Thorpe!!
