BTW just to throw in my .02 I'd like to point out the stats for the respective rookies for the month of Dec. (courtesy of ESPN.com). Sorry but I don't want to screw up the formatting so it'll take up some room:

A. Stoudemire
16 games
34.3 minutes
91-169 shooting (53.8%)
68-108 FT's (64.2%)
0.9 stl
0.9 blks
1.9 TO's
9.8 reb.
0.9 assists
15.4 points

Y. Ming (or M. Yao I'll take whatever W&S says is proper)
15 games (does not include tonight's game)
33.4 minutes
83-161 shooting (51.6%)
74-86 FT's (86%)
0.4 stl
2.9 blks
3.1 TO's
10.4 reb.
2.0 assists
17.1 points

And you're saying STOUDEMIRE is OBVIOUSLY better "performance wise"? The stats seem to say differently as Yao is averaging more assists, blocks, rebounds and points (on roughly the same number of shots and fewer FT attempts per game). All this in a minute less per game. Plus, while Amare is getting a lot of his on dunks and close in shots thanks to feeds from Penny and Marbury, Yao is more often than not creating his shots and actually quite often steering the flow of the offense (hence the higher TO rate). If someone else sees something different either in the stats or if in fact Amare is getting most of his points on 15-18 foot jumpers please let me know.

This thread might have passed for semi-intelligent if it wasn't for the severely ignorant "the Enron" comparison.

That's not even close to being accurate, or funny.

You're an idiot. And I think you're probably just faking pessimism to get some frustration off your chest or you're just trying to start a riot, either way, you, sir, are and idiot among idiots.

For one thing, what "mistakes" of Rudy's are you talking about? Oh, you must mean him helping us land Steve Franchise or Eddie Griffin or stealing Cuttino Mobley late in the draft. Franchise moves are the only things that come to mind when someone says "mistakes". Maybe you're talking about the Rockets performance past few years? Is losing games with a depleted roster that's the second to youngest in the leage a coaching "mistake"? And AGE!?!?!? The man's hair still has much of it's original color (dunno, maybe it's died, but even if it is, it's working :D ).

Anyways, IDIOT!!!

The thought of a recovering alcoholic falling off the wagon is humorous. Ask someone... me for instance... who has had alcoholism effect his or her life and they'll tell you exactly how "humorous" it is.

Dr of Dunk: You should be proud... you threatened to disprove youAndMe with stats, but your loyal CC.net posters did it for you. You lead by example (as does Clutch and Jeff) and that's the main reason why this is the best fan site in the world.

Happy '03 to everyone here at CC.net and may this site enjoy another year of great insight, fan feedback, game recaps, and up to the second Rockets news.

Funny how Ming goes off for 16 points and 9boards and we don't see YouandMe. The only significan stat that Stoudemire is beating Ming out in is rebounding, and that is only by about 1 rebound per game and I can neutralize that state by pointing out the fact tht Stoudemire had an entire training camp and preseason while Ming didn't get to the United States until a week before the season started. After a month, which would equal a training camp for Ming, I think his real rebounding stats are popping up, 10 rebounds per game after adjusting to the league. In less minutes per game then Stoudemire. You want to bring up Stoudemire's 38 points 14 rebounds, you know my response? 30 points, 16 boards, 2 blocks Ming's numbers against the West's number 1 team Dallas. 29 points, 10 boards, 6 blocks, Ming's numbers against the East's number 1 team Indiana. 27 points 18 boards 3 assist and 3 blocks, Ming's numbers against the best frontline in the NBA the San Antonio Spurs. 17 points, 15 boards, 4 blocks, 3 assist, Ming having a good time at the expense of the Sacramento Kings. Oh, but congratulation on your guy Stoudemire having a good game. I'm sure you're wetting yourself as we speak.

You still haven't proved it. Besides if we're "Yao lovers", does that make you a "Stoudemire lover"? You want to ride the Stoudemire bandwagon, prove your opinion that Stoudemire is a better player right now. I just proved my point that Ming is better right now, your response?

Knock, knock, anybody Yao lover home.

Wow, what overwhelming points you make!

Worst case scenarios rarely come true. The truth will be between your troll-like post and the Rockets winning the NBA title, RoY (Yao), MVP (Steve), 6th man (Posey), Coach of the year, and MiP (Cato).

Predicting the worst without evidence is boring.

youandme,
do you work for raeilion? where's your mother ship? why don't you just clone me the perfect team? all teams have problems, you seem to know everything. some of these things are going to happen just like you stated, but it won't be because of their coach or reality...it'll be because all teams tire towards the end and then the good teams recover and finish strong. the Rox are a good team and don't deserve to be slammed like that. if you hate them so much go cheer for another team. i like the progress and will root for my team til the very end. Rudy is the best coach this franchise has ever known. your bad mouthing and degrading comments aren't going to get him fired...he had more than 2 good years. NOTE TO YOUANDME...you don't have to win a championship to have a good season. there can only be one champion a year...but we don't see 27 teams firing their coaches because they didn't win it all or...according to you..."have a good season". but you seem to be able to see the future and can play god and determine everything down to its smallest intricacies kinda like raeilion...but in the end we'll all know what a complete moron you really are...GO ROCKETS!

RM, given the current constraints now, the situations makes Stoudemire a more desirable player or than Yao. Thus, Stoudemire appears to be a better player than Yao now. And he is now. And once Yao hits the rookie wall, Stoudemire will be right on his way pulling further away from Yao.

These constraints are:
Being 3rd option in scoring.
Lack of strength
Lack of experience (Physical style of play)
Lack of rest
Roughly 3 months in US
Rudy hasn't harnessed Yao's potential

That leads to my prediction for Stoudemire as ROY. I never downplay the possibility of Yao becoming a big star. And I believe he'll be a better player than Stoudemire once these constraints disappear. Sadly, for now, Stoudemire has everything work to his advantage because he doesn't have these constraints.

I'm nuts to response to a Sto admirer. This is a Rockets fan BBS and you sir just jumped off the Mingwagon with both feet.

Meanwhile. every dump jerk who blasted Ming in the beginning is clawing as fast as their hands can type to get on the Mingwagon.

So don't tell the group you are a Rockets fan and a Ming fan when you obviously left the building and is now hoping that you are right about Sto of Phoenix.

I hope you don't disgrace yourself further in the future and jump back on when Ming wins the ROY.

Just about the only thing you said that makes sense is that Ming is tire and I'm sure he is. But GUESS WHAT, he's sucking it up and still trying his best for his team.

I know what being a pess feels like because I felt that way when the Rockets lost 3 in a roll. I even told my wife the Rockets will lose their next set of home games. I'm glad I was wrong.

But I am not a Phoenix fan and I don't really care how well Sto does. He's not on the Rockets and he's not helping my team win or lose. He is playing well now, so what! Wasn't Gooden playing well last month? Where is he now? Will people be asking the same question about Sto next month? Maybe and maybe not, that is the way of predictions.

But you make it song like FACT that Sto will just continue to get better and better and be the next superman. And you are putting your reputation, what's left of it, on the line on a rockie HS player from another team. All I can say to you is, good luck. Just don't come back and make excuses when Ming wins ROY.

Stop arguing and just wait for the next "one game" where Yao scores 30 points while grabbing 16 rebounds, and Stoudemire scores 6 points grabbing 5 rebounds.

Then there should be another thread saying how great Yao is and how Stodemire can't compete with him.

you keep saying Sto [H]IS[/H] better right now but I don't see you explain why and how he is better anywhere in the thread. you can say all you want but your opinion is worthless. it's like I can say Yao is better than Shaq but no one will take it seriously.
so stop wasting time posting garbage.

If that stage of denial comes with 3 championships I'll take it gladly. Yao will be the rookie of the year.

Quit feeding this troll.
