If it was only that simple. The fact is Shaq's mobility took a big turn downhill last season and that's the main reason he was so bad. It was very noticeable. The Hawks do a lot of slashing themselves and aren't exactly the best shooting 3-point team in the NBA. So why would the result in Atlanta be different than Cleveland? How many teams lob up 3-pointers like the Suns? Not the Hawks don't. Shaq is finished when it comes to playing effective heavy minutes and he would be a poor fit on the Hawks. His best role is as a situational backup; 10-15 mins/game maximum. If Shaq is less mobile than last season, Pachulia is a better player.
I've heard several people bring up Wallace around this board. I myself didn't see him play much last year, but did he play significantly well last season? For some reason I thought he fell off ever since he was no longer with the Pistons.
He was terrible and out of shape most of the year but came alive late in t the season and during some playoff games. The dropoff was huge.
Wallace still showed he can rebound and block, but that's about it. He'd be a solid backup for Yao, but would be an aweful replacement if ao went down again. I'd take Miller just because he can start if need be.
I think Shaq wants to pass Tony Massenburg in most teams played for. But in all seriousness, I wouldn't mind him coming in and backing up Yao.
I believe I read somewhere that he used to live in Houston (Sugar Land) back during his Magic era...and still has family here and visits the city often. I think he has a kid that lives here.
Wouldn't it be crazy if Shaq helped another player that makes superstar money (Joe Johnson) get a ring?
