Man I've been ****ing close a few times on nfl to winning a couple grand (like 1 pick close...), and I was able to play 7 weeks on $25 on fanduel, and I kept playing off of winnings... But once nba started I got ****ing crazy, lol lost everything. I mean most I was up to at one point was $50, I was winning and typically maintained anywhere from $40-50 a week but I kept entering, I wasn't maximizing winnings since I was playing multiple tournaments, sometimes with multiple entries, my plan was to at least get something sizeable... Anyway only put in $25 played a lot, and also knew about the articles and knew it was basically lottery, but had fun with my $25 anyway... NBA came around and after having bad week in nfl put my final $14 in lol, lost that **** quick. Like I know a ton more about nba but it's a **** ton more difficult than nfl in tournaments. So many God damn variables in nba.... One thing I did notice is if you don't mind playing for less money the Sunday/Monday night games were a lot easier since only 4 teams to pick from, a lot less variables, however I did win a few times on full Sunday games too. Oh I also ****ed around on mlb some, that sucked too, but... I was winning on nfl so I probably should have stuck with that... Oh well
If you have sizable amount might want to cashout... If not much money I'd keep playing, I remember that **** on poker, iirc it doesn't take long for it to be ruled gambling after nyc but definitely won't happen overnight.
Ohhh one last thing on the commercials, I always found it humorous how on the fanduel one there's some guy that won $349 and he's all happy, then the next guy after that has won like ****ing 2 million dollars, ROFL. That just has to suck... At parties, the guy is like "Guys I know you hate the fanduel commercials but I'm in one!! I won a whole $349!!! I quit my ****ing day job!!!" or something like that... I don't know if I'd even sign-on for that commercial (real or not) if I knew I'd be advertising my $349, lol, and yes the commercials do suck.
Don't know if it was mentioned in here, but FanDuel employees had all the data who people were drafting and used that knowledge to play on DraftKings. And vise versa DK employees were playing on FanDuel. And we're not talking about hundreds of dollars. They were among the biggest winners.
Best part is that it had nothing to do with the most recent news from New York. Local casinos and other ****ing gambling establishments applied pressure to get rid of rapidly growing competition. Just like online poker got banned because it was too big of a competition to casinos.
In a country ran by oldfashioned old men with ties to old men who run Casinos. Keep dreaming. Most betting in non US countries is performed online. It takes bussines away from ground gambling establishments. Casinos (and slot machine owners, dog racing simulators, so on and so on) over in Europe keep investing huge money to bribe men in power to limit/ban online poker real bad, my guess is that in US they're spending even more at bribing right people not to give any freedom to online gambling.
(Too hard to do quote/response on iPad, but you get the gist.) All the guys in the commercials are douches. If I don't know you and you talk about partaking in fantasy betting, then it stands to reason my mental image of you is douchy. You in particular, I have a mental image from some of the photos posted here so even if you play, I don't think of you as a guy who puts a lot of product in their hair. Yes, all day traders are douches (including my stepdad) except for the ones in the basement of their parents' house. No, I dislike most advertising but even with volume of execrable ads out there, these stand out as particularly annoying. What did you say?
I have been trying out the NBA fanduel just for fun. I just play a few $1 and $2 games here and there. I am up about $60 right now. Once it runs out, I am done. I don't have the money or time to do anything more or do real research but I can see how people can make money doing this. What is annoying though is last night they did not give any warnings that Rubio or Wiggins would not play.....so basically threw away 2 of the games before they even started. I also don't get that douche comment but maybe I missed something earlier in the thread. I do find the commercials extremely irritating and yes the people look dumb on them but most of the guys I know who have tried it are just regular people that you would have never known if they didn't tell you. That is a dumb generalization. This is my first time to try anything like this, so maybe I am just not used to being around the type of people mentioned.
I definitely understand, most people playing are just normal and not bad frat dudes playing or something... Anyway one thing I highly recommend is going off of rotowire or some other site for injuries/players sitting etc. (at the minimum). ****ing fanduel doesn't update their actual status worth a ****. I mean one week for nfl they were allowing you to play the kicker that got cut on the texans for the whole weekend (even though cut during week). And another time player was announced day before being out but fanduels update stated they were healthy etc.. So definitely use a 3rd party for player status and not them. I got burned once and learned and missed money because of it, but fortunately it wasn't some crazy winning or something or I'd be livid.
Man, I am just having bad luck the last 2 days. Last night, I checked rotowire right before the tournaments started at 6:30 and it did not say anything about D Wade being out. Also, it told me that Ricky Rubio was safe to put back into fantasy lineup and that Jamal Crawford was going to get the start. I was 1 point away from winning money in one game that had no D Wade.....annoying ha.
I've been playing DK but now I'm trying another similar thing in Yahoo Sports Daily Fantasy https://sports.yahoo.com/dailyfantasy/contest/223548/setlineup?adcamp=ff&adid=home_rightbannerrect
I just won $50 last night.....Just ignore tournaments, get in those 50/50's and get your bankroll up. Its simple if you're patient and obviously have a strategy.
I cashed in a double up last night even with Blake Griffin getting tossed. I find it actually easier to build a roster on a night there are only 3 games.
I pretty much strictly play DraftKings. Yahoo and FanDuel tend to update their algorithm more frequently and from what I've seen of Yahoo they are very matchup conscious on their pricing. On DraftKings you can pretty much always find the bargain plays.
apples to oranges. there was a ponzi scheme in place on fulltilt. there weren't available funds to be paid out to the withdrawals. if these sites get shut down (they won't), you will still be able to get your money out of there. you should probably cash in your frequent player points if you're concerned though. they would likely evaporate into nothing.
Surprise, surprise. The New York AG received nearly $50,000 in campaign contributions from casinos last year. The biggest issue I see with the survival of DFS is that the NFL is not actually invested in any of them. Goodell has purposely been noncommittal about it and deferred it as "the decision of the individual states". The NBA and MLB are both invested, but they don't have nearly the legal pull or power structure of the NFL. Whatever the case may be, DraftKings and FanDuel should both be allocating their massive marketing budgets into legal funds, lobbyists, and "campaign contributions". The American Way. If they don't start giving the powers that be a tasty slice of the pie, they won't last much longer.
