Family Guy is funny, I like it but Seinfeld is a lot funnier than that.

Also I think South Park is funnier than FG.

Well, they are both good, in their own way, but I love Seinfeld and grew up with it...I guess that's why I love Curb your Enthusiasm...Same premise, a show about nothing...

it shouldnt be that close. seinfeld is a classic and extremely witty. Family guy just has obvious and immature humor (its still pretty funny but not near as good as seinfeld)

I was never a huge Seinfeld fan (a lot of folks that come from where I do just don't identify with the show. We all used to watch "New York Undercover," which came on a the same time), but this thread was horribly timed. Family Guy is at it's lowest point right know and it's repetitive jokes are getting really stale and old. Shows like South Park manage to stay consistently fresh and better, while other shows Venture Bros and Frisky Dingo have easily passed it up. Seth needs to get off his ass and revamp the "formula" instead of focusing on American Dad so much.

No way, the comedy in 24 is great. :D (ironically, I just made a post about this in the 24 thread)

You know. I tried to like 24. I really did. This was my first season watching it, so it wasn't rehashed to me like others have complained about.

I finally gave up last night. I just find the show painfully boring.

right on. i like a fart joke (or whatever) as much as the next guy but i dont think its 'great' comedy. funny but from a broader perspective not great.

sort of like south park. Yeah, its funny to see people get made fun of for the obvious...funny to see kids cuss, die, fart, etc etc. But its not really great comedy and it gets old and predictable fast. I honestly dont know how southpark has done so well...oh wait, yes i do. Stoners. :)

    Seinfeld wins.

Family Guy I would have considered at least if it had maintained its level from the first 3 seasons. It has come down a lot since coming back on the air... there are some good episodes, and some not so good. Mostly not as good as the previous seasons (though still funny somewhat).. and once in a while (like this past week) they have a breakout back to the old FG. But those are few and far between..

:D. Maybe they should switch writing teams.

This was the wrong season to start with, man. Season 5 was great, as it was the culmination of the writing staff perfecting many of the common themes they'd worked on during the show's run. This season, instead of going in a fresh direction, they rehashed the things that they had already perfected. Thus, you get this suddenly painfully boring and uninteresting season (to some. There are people out there that actually enjoy this kind of formulaic repition, as it's what they're comfortable with).

Really it just comes down to the fact that the 24 creators, just like the Family Guy staff, are taking the safe route, instead of taking risks.

Right. Detonating a nuclear bomb and killing off one of the most popular characters in the first four hours is definitely playing the safe route.

Please don't post any spoilers in this thread. I'm three hours behind on 24.

I only watch 24 via Netflix. I have to watch at least 2 episodes at a time or I'll go crazy waiting all week to see what happens next. I usually whip through a 4 episode DVD in a couple of days.

Fatty, you should try doing it this way. It's a lot less boring without a week in between every episode.

That's why everyone loved the fist four hours (including me). It looked like this season was going to be something of a departure. (Nukes, somewhat wussy Jack, Curtis, et al).

Since then, things have gotten back to normal 24 style. Since a lot of people have seen this done at it's best last season, it's repition has been...meh.

I can see why lots of guys still like it. Its a good style, and the writers work well with it, but for many, a lot more (or should I say, different) was expected this time around (kinda like Superman Returns). I'm not trying to say the show's bad, just trying to explain why a lot of people are dissatisfied with it this season.

FG should not have come back. When it got cancelled, it had some kind of martyrdom status. Now, it's just a one-trick pony that, IMO, needs to be taken back and shot...

I don't have time to read this thread but the reason I voted Seinfeld over FG is because you could call it Famencia Guy.

Family Guy can get you with a WTF?! moment chuckle, but the humor doesn't stand up very well to repeated viewings... I've been watching Seinfeld re-runs for ten years now and have yet to not enjoy them.

I must say I have never watched Seinfeld. Now yeah I've watched some episodes but very little. I don't think I've watched a Seinfeld episode in 3 years, it seems like it's never on when I watch TV.

Anyways, Family Guy is funny, a lot of it is just "WTF is this??" moments, and stuff that's just so stupid it's funny.

I do prefer malcolm in the Middle however, the Simpsons, it's funny yeah but I watch it because the stories within each episode are quite interesting. Friends is very funny as well, so is Fresh Prince
