I like this post, Thanos, but if we dealt Mobley, I would like to get a bruising 4. I just don't like having Mo starting at the 4 due to his inefficient rebounding.

Thanks for clearing all the numbers I had already checked out at ESPN for me, MacBeth.

One can argue that Ford has nowhere to go but up, while Francis will only go downhill from now on, as his athletic ability leaves him.

Besides, our PG can't lead, can't distribute, can't even catch a plane these days...

Ok. Maybe I am being a bit too hard on him, but I, as a lot of us, have had enough. Let it end.

If we can get Mason and T. Thomas (a 3, NOT a 4) for him and Cato, I'm all for it.

EXACTLY my thinking Manny, one trade away from the big time. We can get a player like that with Mobley/A.Griffin or maybe even package Taylor along too. What a shame that we can't get Brand!

MacBeth - Ford is currently not an NBA caliber shooter. However, it's not unreasonable to expect him to develop a consistent 15 ft jumper during his early years. Imo, that's all he'll ever need. His court vision and quickness combine to disrupt a defense, create and take advantage of situations in both the half court and fast break. SF will always lack the vision and instinct to take advantage of mismatches on a consistent basis.

By the by, I love Heinrich's (sp?) game as well. I think he would be a good fit, also. I think vs Ford you would clearly gain shooting touch and range but lose some ability to disrupt and take advantage of a defensive breakdown. Not that Heinrich is a slouch at breaking a defense down, I just think that much of Ford's abilities. To me, they both "get it" more so than Francis ever will.

Now if only they had his stature and athletic abilities. Sigh. ;)

What kind of worker is Ford? Yes, everyone says he will dedicate himself to improving his shot this summer, but who knows? Will h be distracted playing at home?

I'm with those who say T. Thomas and T.J. alone are not enough but adding in Desmond Mason gets you there.

haha pariah our cheerleader! im glad someone is being optimistic. I admit I was a lil harsh of SF earlier I think a tough loss does that too you. It doesnt mean I dont think of ways to trade him but I believe you need to get value for value. I would like us to get the better part of a deal for once. I know we've gotten crap for crap trades done well but a blockbuster trade would really be something.

Im also worried the players are becoming complacent and would rather find some way to keep them motivated. However, we do lack leadership and SF3 does not provide that for us. Im hoping JJ or Pike even MJ might but they are still so new to the team.

IMO we are a solid 3 away from having a great team while keeping our core but if we move anyone I hope its Cato lately as his contract > production. Last game he played what 8 minutes? I wonder whats going on in his mind.. You dont always have to score to contribute look at Ben Wallace but you still need to work hard.

Then what the hell is he? a 3? our 3 (JJ) is doing fine. We dont have a problem with that spot. If T. Thomas also plays that position, what the hell do we need him for? We need a freaking 4 or a 1. If we get a 3, it better be an all star 3, like Kirelinko....

Breaking a personal rule about # of posts in 1 thread...

Since I doubt we're getting Ron Artest or Rashard Lewis anytime soon I could personally live with a 6'10", 240# Tim Thomas at SmF.

Thomas' 2003-04 stats vs WC playoff teams:

    SAS (2x) - 37.5 mpg / 17.5 ppg / 6.5 rpg
    DAL (2x) - 32.0 mpg / 14.0 ppg / 4.0 rpg
    DEN - 35.0 mpg / 25.0 ppg / 2.0 rpg
    LAL - 38 mpg / 16.0 ppg / 11.0 rpg
    MIN - 30.0 mpg / 12.0 ppg / 3.0 rpg

    =================================

The Bucks only average 1 more ppg from steals than the Rockets but are 8th in the league in FBreak points nearly doubling Houston - 13.7 to 7.3.

I think this "rumor" is a bunch of BS and the reaction reflects the BBS's unhappiness with Francis and the Rock's inconsistancy more than anything. But to play along, what MacBeth said is the truth... Ford is too small for our backcourt. I'd like to get him, having said that, but not at anything remotely like the price mentioned by several here. There are a lot of UT fans here (I'm not one although I've lived in Austin over 20 years... go Cougs! ;) ) who overvalue him a bit because they are more than a little biased, in my opinion. If you could get Redd, then that's another story, but like several have said, he ain't going anywhere.

If several players from each team "DNP- coach's decision" tonight, then we can rethink this, but otherwise... nothing here, folks, move along.

I just spoke with Steve Haywood of Sportsradio 1510 in Milwaukee and it's not good for you MLC1MGC2ALC3.

This is a gross misrepresentation of what was talked about on their show, "The Game". They talked on the show about "what if the Rockets decided to move Steve Francis" and they later talked about how the only player they could give up to match his contract is Tim Thomas, who the Bucks might like to move.

It was fantasy ... pure speculation.

At no point in time did he speak with Bucks GM Larry Harris about this nor was he told that there are "SERIOUS" discussions going on with the Rockets. In fact Harris has told him recently he does not want to mess with the team at all.

    ------------------------------------------------------

I have said before (and I want to make it crystal clear here again):

DO NOT POST CRAP FROM OTHER MESSAGE BOARDS

The Clutch BBS is a much better board than you'll find anywhere. When people post rumors, I and others research them and try to find out where they came from. People are held accountable for what they post ... it makes them respected or not here.

MLC1MGC2ALC3 - I'll save you the pain and just toss you now.

    I would like to add:

If you post a trade rumor, you must post a link to verify your story. Or no one will take you seriously.
