I am a Hawks fan, as well, and just remember that Josh Smith is a free agent at years end...

He also has some growing up to do...

    he did shut it down...

    Hi Jon ,
There is a rumour that a trade of Battier+Head+Brooks for Josh Smith+Pachulia+Salime Stoudamire is being discussed/
Is there any truth to that?

(None whatsoever. The Hawks, by the way, love Smith and are still pretty high on Stoudamire. -- Jonathan)

I just looked at Smith's numbers... 40% FG, 23% from 3 pt land. For 6'9'' guy with good hops, it's hard to imagine how you can have such a low shooting efficiency.

I could see the Hawks trying to move all three players....mainly Stoudemire and Zaza.

Stoudemire is pretty decent, but Atlanta is overcrowded with young guards who can shoot and score.....

Zaza, definitely, because he's had some injury problems, but when healthy he's fairly decent center. Good for about 8 to 10 ppg and 8 to 10 rebs a game. He'd be nice emergency center in case Yao went down with injury.

Josh Smith, hard to say. He's good young player, impressive shot blocker and outer worldy dunker, decent scorer, but he's an average defender.

In fact, if we give up Battier, don't be surprise if we start giving up a few extra points, because he's not as committed on defense, like Battier is.

Josh Smith is a rebounding beast and he puts up solid numbers inside the 3 pt line. You don't get him for his 3 pt shooting.

I'm all for this trade if this happens...if not, we better look for other options..Travis Outlaw is a cheaper version of Josh Smith...for trades,Battier is our valuable trading piece..we can unload our unwanted players together with him...How about goin for Rip Hamilton if Dumars is looking to deal..that's a big IF...

He shoots as many free throws as Yao. That's something big.

    BTW
Brooks just sent to the D-League. It just doesn't make sense to send someone to D-League when you're able to trade him in the next 2 days.

If by "rebounding beast" you mean "rebounds at at lower rate than Juwan Howard did for the Rockets last year," then he is a rebounding beast.

If by "solid numbers inside the 3 pt line" you mean 42.6% shooting on his 2 pointers (Rafer Alston, this season is making 46% on his 2-pointers), then he put up solid numbers inside the 3 pt line.

I wouldn't say better, but more complete and experienced.

And, he just has more intangibles.

No way would i do this trade. Josh is another swift. If we lose shane, who is goin to guard kobe, ginobly, barbosa, wade, lebron, and etc? certainly not t mac because he need all his energy on the offensive end.

If this was a serious rumor we would be on drugs to not do this. That having been said, the Hawks have little reason to move him. Dream on!
