WRONG http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/ian_thomsen/11/30/josh.smith/index.html "I worked out with Calvin Murphy and Hakeem Olajuwon this summer, so I got great advice from them and they taught me different things they did to get by in this game,'' Smith said. "I may be 21, but I've been around. I'm not saying I know everything. I have a whole lot to learn, but when the rookies come in I'm able to tell them things that I've been through and I have faced. I look at them and I'm having flashbacks when I used to make those mistakes in different situations.''
We have an unwritten policy here: Do not post stuff from other message boards here that can not be verified. This is why. Yesterday, I purely speculated on teams that would want Shane Battier. I said Atlanta was my "dark horse" because they needed a PG and a veteran presence. Someone took that reply and started posting on other message boards that I told them a trade with Atlanta was going down. Um, that's false. So someone else posted THAT here. I replied. It's a vicious cycle when people post other message board posts that have no credibility. The casual fans of the group think it's a second source. Please put an end to it.
We don´t need this kind of trades, giving away untested young players is never a good idea, i think this management had enought with the Rudy Gay choke. We need a way to trade away those players who have been stuck here using roster space and adding nothing. IE: Alston, Head. I will also trade Hayes if we are getting back a better PG than alston or a big man who can cover both PF and C positions. There is no need for me to say that i´m fine with. Francis/Brooks/(new PG) T-Mac/James Battier/Wells Scola/Hayes (or new average big man) Yao/(new average big man)/Mutombo
P.S. while I figured this rumor was questionable, man am I ready for some legitimate trade rumors. I've been trying to be patient with our current roster, but it's getting harder and harder. Even when we win I feel like our flaws are evident.
This trade is obviously hogwash... BUT, I have to chuckle everytime I read a response that is concerned about losing Aaron Brooks. C'mon, I wan thim to be th energizer bunny as much as anyone, but the next Allen Iverson....hate to see him flourish on Atlanta...y'all are on crack.
He is fun to watch! Look at all his athletisism, his block's, his dunks, I like him, we need his athletisism that this team lacks.
i think u are dreaming. Josh smith is playing so well right now, i doubt they would trade him away. beside why would they want head, and shane?
Seriously aaron brooks is a dime a dozen, the thing about the nba is...... 90% of players on teams are completely replacable because there is such a talent pool out there. The only people who arent replacable are superstars. AB will never be a superstar.
Noo Clutch shouldn't lock this up so people can see that it is false. If it gets locked noone will be able to read it because it will die out. I hate the fact that people make up "trades" by somones suggestions. Ohh well I guess its the nature of the beast...
That is an insane trade completely in the Rockets Favor. I would pull the trigger on this in a heartbeat. Josh Smith always fills up the stat sheets. He's a beast.
Sorry Clutch I was reading NBA Local on ESPN and there was a link to the Chron concerning an article about the Rockets current line up not working. It was written by Jonathan Feigen and there were 3 mentions of the trade, that's why I asked. Didn't mean to cause a fuss. TX Boy
It appears obvious the trade is a an unsubstantiated rumor. But IIRC, Salim Stoudemire worked out for the Rockets as part of his NBA draft routine. My recollection is that the Rockets management was very impressed. I'm not sure if I read there here or nbadraft. Salim may be under-sized but so is Ben Gordon and there are probaby only a handful here that would reject Gordon.
Doubt it very much, even if Feigan didn't shoot it down. Adelman is looking for high IQ guys and Mr. Smith clearly isn't one. He is entertaining, though... nice dunks.. and I think he lead the league in airball 3-pointers-- he can hit some, but when he misses, he misses badly.
