Well, SF 'captivated' me with his play in the playoffs...At the Rockets home playoff games, I hadn't experienced an electrifying performance by a single rocket since the Hakeem days....all that were in attendance seemed pretty captivated, too (average joe et al)...but, that's just my opinion... We got beat by a much better Lakers team, but if not for SF, the series would have been an absolute joke...yet, we hung close, and were in position to take game 1 and 4....wouldacouldashoulda, i know...still captivating though...but, keep drinking from you half-empty glass, and you'll still be a bitter man even when we win a championship again!
i'm the most optimistic person i know!!! i was named most optimistic my sr year of high school!!! seriously!!! but that doesn't mean you check reality at the door...it doesn't mean you don't analyze a situation and determine which course is best. i personally feel that francis comes up short as a point guard, but is too small to play the 2. that hinders us, in my view. i'm very optimistic the rockets will get T-Mac and we will eventually be legit contenders once we do that. but you can still be a bitter man, even when we win a championship with T-Mac again.
Speaking of selective memory!! You are the one who said Steve single-handedly carried the team. He didn't score 50+ pts on 50%FG or anything , did he? The SOFs wear blinders and then turn around and acuse others of doing so. In case you forgot, 1) We lost that series. 2) Go check how well other teams' PGs played against the Lakers. What does it mean? It shows that many other "good" PGs could do as well. Steve was good but not All World or anything!
Whether or not this deal gets done, I am of the opinion that Steve Francis has played his last basketball for the Houston Rockets. Too much ill will and baggage from all sides. I'm not sure about Cat and Cato, but if I had to venture a guess, I would say their days here are numbered, too.
Other than Billups, SF was the only one that played consistently well against the Lakers in the playoffs...
The answers to these questions seem, to me at least, pretty obvious. One that is not listed here, and the answer to which is not so obvious to me, is whether Cat feels betrayed by Steve in all of this, both by suggesting a trade that would separate the Wonder Twins (for Diesel) and by voicing displeasure for a trade that includes all of Steve's core peeps, the same 3 players (well, minus MoT) who he felt before the 2002 draft were good enough and reasons enough not to draft Yao and that the Rockets should instead go after someone who will compliment THEIR game. Of course this doesn't rise to the level of Barkley vs. Pippen, but if I were Cat, I'd be pretty pissed. That'd be a slap in my face both in terms of our friendship and professionally in my ability as a baller. Unless Cat is somehow in on all of this too....
Steve didn't say anything bad about the Rockets or Houston. If the fans don't want him, that's on the fans. Steve is not holding up this deal. The idea that he is is ludicrous. I never understand why people act like just because professional athletes make a lot of money, they don't have a right to an opinion.
Of course he is, if his statements were a cause in fact of the delay. That's a completely different issue as to whether he's blameworth. Logic, please.
The cause of the delay is that the Rockets management is being played against other bidders. Logic these.
Obviously, if this trade fails, steve's trade value drops further. On the other hand, I doubt he will hold some negative emotions toward management, and coach. Once the trading news is out, steve is in a dilemma. He doesn't want to go, but does he really want to stay after this incident? I don't know. I like this kid a lot. But after all of these, I have to pray the trade may go through.
Very good question. If I were Mobley, I'd feel betrayed by Francis. I had sacrificed a lot to be his sidekick. Now we were both traded to a team and he's forcing his way out, likely leaving me and Cato behind in Orlando.
There were some people calling that a legendary accomplishment, but I had to shoot those ridiculously false claims down.
Another fallout scenario: I brought this up in another thread. If this deal falls through (and I still dont think it will), CD/Rockets management are going to come out of it with an awful lot of egg on their face. Weisbrod has basically insinuated that a) CD/Management betrayed Steve and b) CD/Management lied to Steve and his agent by telling them a deal was imminent when it wasn't. If ...if ......if ........I would hope that CD/Management comes out and explains their side of things and above all else, defends themselves. I think overall, the Rockets have the most to lose by this deal not being consumated.
HAHAHA. I love it. My boy Steve will be in a Rocket uniform after all next year. What does my sig say?
