I'm not knocking him, either. I actually have Garden State and the soundtrack. In some interview he said that Coldplay is still his favorite band, which may be an indication of his sensitivity. He does seem like a nice guy, though. www.myspace.com/zachbraff That's his real myspace page!
I'm still watching Prison Break, though I'm getting kind of tired of it. I will definately watch Lost. I watched the first three episodes of Vanished and then decided it was kind of boring. I have yesterday's and last week's still on the DVR in case I change my mind. I kind of want to watch Heroes, but think it looks too much like The 4400, which I grew tired of this last season. I am going to watch The Nine and see how it goes.
I can't believe it took three pages for somebody to mention Battlestar Galactica. Easily the best show on TV right now, it makes every other show look like children's work. Season 2.5 just came out today on DVD, can't wait for the season 3 premier on October 6th. Spoilerish teaser: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKmfnoVJhSQ
I don't agree with you very often, nomar, because you tend to be a total sci-fi/fantasy snob along the lines of Comic Book Guy (in fact, I use the CBG voice to read your posts ), but here you are dead on. Battlestar Galactica is simply awesome. It's got action, drama, suspense, plot twists, good acting, decent dialogue, and characters you can actually care about, for once. If you don't watch this show, you are missing out. (Plus, for every episode you miss, thousands of kittens will die a horrible, meaningless death. Please, think of the kittens!) The only other shows besides BSG I'm looking forward to are Lost and The Office. And 24/American Idol in January, of course.
I watched BSG last year, but, man, it was just too damn dark for me. It just kept getting worse and worse. I just got burned out on it.
People need to start watching this - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on FX I think other than that- Lost, Office
I'll still be watching Eureka even though it has been a little disappointing so far. I was expecting it to be more like Northern Exposure instead of Encyclopedia Brown.
Give me an example of how I'm a snob, not disputing it just wondering why you think that. But yeah, BSG kicks all kind of ass. My other shows are mainly the Shield, The Office, and Scrubs. But yeah, BSG... wow. Lost.... meh. ZOMGZ0RS... WUTZ GONA HAPEN NEXT LOL!! TEH PUZELS R SO HARD LOL ITZ KRAZY OMG!!!! Gimmick show, piss poor acting and writing.
Life is dark sometimes, BSG is very realistic that way. It makes the highs that much higher when they are able to rise up. Give it another shot, October 6th. Every indication shows that season 3 will be ridiculously intense.
damn...do i have to agree with you on something? only new show i'm looking forward to is Kidnapped, which premieres tonight, and only one other person has mentioned it i think...it's gotten great reviews, and jeremy sisto is a great actor. Six Feet Under is one of my favorite shows of all time, and he stole every scene he was in on there, in my opinion. always wondered why he never became more popular.
I guess I'm just not that big a fan. I tried it out and even watched the first season on DVD. Just didn't do it for me. Six Feet Under was dark, but that was fine with me most times. I don't mind dark. I just don't like it mixed with this kind of hard core, militaristic thing. But, I am a huge Edward James Almos fan. He's probably the only reason I'd even turn it on at this point...well, that and some of the show hotties.
"Q: Joe Piscopo, Whoopi Goldberg, and Brent Spiner walk into a bar… A: And Jacob never watched Star Trek again. I don't think it's a coincidence that the commonly accepted favorite characters in the first two Star Trek series were, variously, a half-human/all-logic robotic person who went psycho whenever he got horny, and an actual robot guy who spent the entire thing trying to figure out basic human interaction, humor, sexuality, emotion. Or that Voyager's most intriguing relationship combined the two, with additional breasts everywhere. Or that the all-time most hated episode of Next Generation involved forty-five minutes of the red-headed doctor lady masturbating herself senseless on Planet Scotland. That's kind of intense, and more than a little intimidating coming out of nowhere, as it did. I thought it was awesome, but it turns out I was just waiting for Farscape. If Star Trek is a utopian civics lesson, in a surgical theatre, Farscape is anonymous sex. In a sewer. Honestly that's the only thing I really like about this episode. There's been much talk of Battlestar bringing balance to the Force, as far as TV sci-fi, and I honestly think Battlestar's what happens when you combine the all-brain sterility of Star Trek with the no-brain chaos of Farscape: women who aren't just bodies and mommies, men who aren't just scientists and daddies. Character and plot working together. Not better, not worse, just more suited to me personally: Farscape is the drain that Star Trek runs into, so it can stay nice and clean." I'm a huge fan of Farscape, but the acting (outside of Crichton, Aeryn, and Scorpius) is laughably bad. Like.. wow this is some of the worst acting I've ever seen. Alot of the plots are also pretty absurd. It's definitely a wild, crazy ride and a great show, but it's not very well crafted. On the other hand, Star Trek is too watered down and sterilized. BSG is a happy medium between the two.
