The Office Prison Break Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (can't wait to watch the pilot) Lost Desperate Housewives Family Guy American Dad The Simpsons Standoff I know I'm missing a few.
Larry Sanders was behind the scenes on a Tonight Show type program, not a SNL type one. And you realize the same person created/wrote The West Wing as this. That's the way he writes. He also wrote/created SportsNight which was a behind the scenes on a Sportscenter type show program (and that was better than West Wing) featuring quick, witty dialogue. Anyway, it showed some promise and had some rough patches. Most pilots have the latter while only some have the former. It'll be interesting to see if it progresses.
Studio 60 was last night ( monday at 9 pm). I didnt get to see it, but I remember seeing an ad for it. What's Standoff about? I dont think Ive heard of that.
I liked Studio 60. The production value of the show is very good. Some of the dialogue was kind of cheesy, but since it's the first episode, they heavily focused on character development. The characters are certainly interesting enough. Amanda Peet is really hot, but at the same time, I'm not a big fan of her acting. I'm worried that she might drag the show down since she's a pretty essential character. Anyway, the show definitely has potential. I'll be tuning into the show for a few more weeks. I'm just glad Aaron Sorkin has a new show.
Yeah, it's on my DVR. Standoff is about hostage negotiators. It's partly about that and two of them that are in a relationship. Of course, I haven't actually watched that one yet, either.
If I'm not mistaken, that's the show where Ron Livingston comes back for his first leading man role since cult classic Office Space. He seems like such a likeable guy, that I'm surprised it's taken this long. I'll definitely be checking it out. Of course that means it'll get canceled after one season (or shorter). Happens to me every time. Also I'm way looking forward for the new season of the Office. Funniest show on TV.
I am still hooked on Vanished. Very well done show. I watched Studio 60 and The Class last night. I thought The Class was a little slow. It's a setup show setting up what is to come later in the show, but it felt forced. There were only a handful of laughs. The girl who plays Cat is a hottie though. Studio 60 was very very good. This is an Emmy waiting to happen. Typical Sorkin kind of show with fast, witty dialogue no one would ever use in real life. I thought it was a very good start to the series if a little cheesy at moments. The writing, as has been reported, is outstanding.
I loved it, just not sure how they can keep up that intensity....gripping first show. And I can't believe they moved Scrubs and Medium to a January start time....I love those shows. DD
The only thing I see with it that sort of bugged me is that Matthew Perry is going to have to improve the dramatic portion of his game. He's still funny when he does the comedy stuff, but some of those moments where he tried to be dramatic (that righteous indignation with the ex-girlfriend in particular) seemed really forced. He felt pretty awkward in those scenes standing next to actors that clearly have well-formed dramatic chops. I wonder how long Amanda Peet can keep up the nothing-ever-effects-me-because-I'm-above-it-all vibe with her character. Plus, you gotta love that they found a role for Elliot from 30 Something.
Yes, that's what it cost me at Best Buy. But if you want both season 1 & 2 you can purchase their combo package for $42.00.
I read an interview with Zach Braff on the plane and he made it sound like it wasn't necessarily the last season. He did say it was his last season, though.
How could the show go on without him? It's not an ensemble type thing ( though I do like McGeenley, Faison, and Chalke), where no one person carries the show.
I have to disagree with you here. I think the last few years, it's been more of an ensemble and, IMO, Braff has been the weakest link. Sometimes that guy is a little too girly for my tastes.
John C. Mcginley, I don't know why I said McGeenley. I always get him and John C. Reilly confused. I would watch Scrubs without Zach Braff, but I don't know if NBC would pick it up, theyre already holding it back WITH him. You think he's become too sensitive since Garden State? Chicks dig that type of guy...ON SCREEN.
That's just who he is. In reading interviews with him, he's just that kind of guy. Nothing wrong with that, I'd just like to see some range. The whole "I'm a pansy and proud of it" routine gets old.
Pretty much the only thing I've been looking forward to has been Battlestar Galactica. I'll also watch Smallville, but if it's anything like last season, I won't make time for it. The Office is something I will tune in for, but not mark my calendar. I always make time Of course, every Rockets game pre-empts any TV show.
