Fade's Fantasy Baseball 2009 "I Love You Guys" Thread

And so, on the last day of the regular season, I find myself in a tie with the suddenly dominant (absentee) Darkhorses, and their ace Sabathia due up today. Meanwhile, the Expos are enjoying an easy win over the mailing-it-in Smegsters.
A DH-Aliens tie would throw it to the tiebreaker to decide the final playoff spot, which is overall points, where the Expos' 21 point edge has been currently shaved to 4.

 

I'm actually not sure. I think a win might be worth more than two ties. We'd have to see what the win % stat said on the site if that were to happen.

I refuse to get my hopes up because every time I do they get crushed, but there is potential for a close finish (Aliens' 2 remaining SP vs. DarkHorse's Sabathia + 1 remaining RP game).

 

Have we never had that come up? In the old pre-shootout NHL and in the NFL (only 2 pro leagues where you can finish with a tie) they award .5 wins per tie. That seems fair. Anyway, it seems unlikely to happen this time, so we might never address the issue.

 

Unless Prince Fielder hits a couple of grand slams in his next two at bats, it's pretty safe at this point to call the final outcome of the regular season.

Playoff match-ups are set as follows:

Aliens (#4) vs. LonghornFan (#1)
jent (#3) vs. Rook (#2)

SamCassell is going for an unprecedented third baseball championship. Longhorn and jent are hoping for a second title, while Rook is going for his first championship in any league.

You should know this already, but here are the playoff rules:

- Round 1 is comprised of two game periods added together (week 46 and week 47).
- You get 8 SP games to use throughout the two game periods.
- You must start 2 RPs at all times (no more, no less).

Rook -- Just a head up... your week 46 lineup currently has 3 RPs (Madson, Bell & Nathan). You must get rid of one of those guys.

Not sure I am feeling the love that was intended with the thread started...........

I guess it is better to at least be playing in the playoffs each year and coming up short time after time, then lucking out one year or always hoping for the next.......

 

The 3 SP I've run with so far have been embarrassingly bad, and my OF sucks. Now, my 3B is hurt.

To top that off, LH for some reason benches super-ace Roy Halladay and it turns out he's made the right call. Hopefully my luck turns around before my team gets eliminated. At least Derek Lee's hot.

Congrats Sam! Rook as well. It sucks to dominate the regular season and then lose in the first round, but that's what I get for forgetting to set my lineup for the second session...although I'm pretty sure that I still would have lost.

Woo! Rook's probably gonna mop the floor with me but it's an honor just to make the final round.

Heck of a series with LH. I don't think setting that 2nd lineup would have made the difference.

 

After looking, I know it wouldn't. Your team gave me the Mike Tyson uppercut in the second session. It still hurts.

 

Dominate! You had a great season, but Dominate, not sure I would go there...........

Just had a give you a hard time, but you did have a good season.............

 

I don't know about mopping the floor with you, two of my keepers are out for the season and my pitchers are like the stock market, some weeks way up, some weeks way down...............so we will see how it goes, but I won't be surprise either way.

Good luck............but if you decide to throw it my way, I would appreciate it to get the likes of Fade and that off my back, for always dominating (that is for LH) in the regular season and folding in the playoffs...........never to see the top of the mountain.
