Darkhorse -- please remove one of your RPs. You can only start 2 during the playoffs. PSJ -- please insert one RP into your lineup. You only have one in there at the moment.
Fade... what's the definition of "however we want"... For example, if I start 5 pitchers, I will likely have at least 10 SP games used. Does that mean I get to pick the "best 8"?
For the record, since games haven't started yet, I'd like to have Mark Buehrle in my starting lineup. I was a little confused about how long the matchup lasted. For some reason I was thinking that the matchup would be two weeks long, so I went ahead and left him out of the lineup, thinking I would have at least 8 starts from 4 guys over the span of two weeks. Obviously that's not going to happen over just one week. Sorry... it's actually my first time in the playoffs so I was a little unclear on the details. Thanks.
It means you can start 5 this period and 3 the next, or 4 this period and 4 the next, or 3 this period and 5 the next. You cannot exceed 8 SP games for the whole week (two game periods). I don't know how to explain it any better than that. I added Buehrle to your lineup.
My entire offense picked a bad time to get collectively injured. It'd take a miracle to make up 50 points in a weekend. Especially against PSJ, who's had the best record by far for the 2nd half of the season.
Looks like the two wild card teams both made it through. Sam beats PSJ 362 to 332. Rook beats DarkHorse 355 to 339. World Series: The Rook vs. The Aliens Championship round is Week 48 + Week 49 + Week 50 + Week 51. You will start 2 RP always and will have 16 SP games total to use however you want throughout the four periods. In baseball it`s a marathon, not a sprint. Good luck!!!
So much for an insurmountable lead. So much for momentum. Viva la wild card! Now the Rook vs the defending champ for all the marbles. It's on.
Here is the situation after 3/4 of the championship match: Aliens: 171 + 95 + 158 = 424 Rook: 153 + 136 + 108 = 397 It's still close enough that either team could win it! SP games used thus far (16 max): Aliens: 4 + 3 + 3 = 10 (can start 6 in final period) Rook: 5 + 3 + 3 = 11 (can start 5 in final period)
Didn't realize I could have started 6 SP this final match, but given the choice between a 6th SP and ditching my 2nd reliever, I would have gone with Mariano anyway (even though he was uncharacteristically sucky last night). Today's the big day, 6 of our combined 8 starters left are pitching. Lead has crept up to 41 points. Should be interesting...
Congratulations to The Aliens. Sam's team edged out Rook 577-521 to win his second championship. Good job to both teams, and to all the playoff teams this year. Things were competitive right down to the wire. Next up is the off season. During the off season, waivers will be frozen. From this point on, you will not be allowed to pick up any players from free agency. The reason for this is that if a superhot rookie prospect joins MLB during the winter (i.e. Ichiro when he first entered the league), I don't want anyone snapping him up. He will enter the draft pool like everyone else. Trading, however, will remain open. For any teams that want to make trades to upgrade keepers and/or draft picks, by all means feel free to make some off season deals.
Woo! Back-to-back! I'd like to thank God, through whom all things are possible. And Trevor Hoffman, who's been my bullpen ace for both championships. Along with Fausto Carmona, John Maine for his final game, and Rickie Weeks, who caught fire at the end of the season. And thanks Fade, again, for running the league.
Congrats Sam! I only wish I could figure this league out. The scoring and pitching requirements give me the wet squirts. WILL be back again next year, no doubt. In 4 life. I'll even tattoo it.
