One small problem in this master plan of yours.............you have to jump over me to get to Sam, and I don't see that happening............ I have week 32 circled on my schedule...........
Not gonna happen my friend. Have you checked out this Liriano kid? AL ERA leader by almost a run. Not bad for a 23rd round draft pick (and free agent pickup).
League Update: I have looked over the MLB schedule, and we will still be able to have a 45 game regular season, even though one period was cut short because of the all star break. The last game period will be Sept 8-10, with the playoffs starting on Sept 11th. Four teams will make the playoffs: two division winners and two wildcards based on overall record, the tiebreaker being total fantasy points scored. Playoff period 1 will be comprised of two game periods: Sept 11-14 and Sept 15-17, which will be added together to determine which teams advance. Playoff period 2 will consist of four game periods: Sept 18-21, Sept 22-24, Sept 25-28 and Sept 29-Oct 1. The scores for these four periods will be added together to determine the champion. As in the past, there will be no game limits for pitchers in the playoffs. Each team will start 5 SP and 2 RP for each period. Unlike in previous years, however, teams will be able to update their lineups for each game period (in the past, you just set it on Monday for the entire 7-day week). This change was suggested at the end of last season, and I think it makes sense. The rationale is that if a player gets hurt on Monday, for example, teams can switch him out in the next game period so they won't be stuck with that injured player in their lineup for the whole week. Any questions? Let me know.
2 weeks to decide the champion? I totally disagree with this. One week is plenty of time to decide who the best team is. Wouldn't it be better to add a week to the regular season? Those 2 games might make a difference to a team fighting for a playoff spot. Remember last year Rook and I both thought the championship was 1 week long. Hell, I would have beat him by 1000 points if it lasted 2 weeks
It has always been two weeks. I like it because one hot streak doesn't automatically determine the winner. You have to earn the championship. There's no way I can add another week onto the regular season. Too many teams would be screwed with regard to pitching limits.
Letting people change lineups mid-week during the playoffs seems to have the main effect of inflating the value of pitching depth, which is less important in the actual MLB playoffs. I don't really care for the move. Maybe just an injury exception for substituting out players who are actually put on the IL during the week.
I know I can't make everybody happy, but I do think this is the best way to do it. In addition to the injury issue, in previous years people would often start waiver wire pitchers who happened to have two starts scheduled for the week instead of their main guys because they only had one game going. It is a bit silly to have a system that encourages many teams to bench their best players during the playoffs. This will simplify things. Everybody will be at full strength all the time. I think it makes sense, and it's the simplest way to do it. Also, regarding seedings, if wildcards are from separate divisions it will be: East Division Winner vs East Wildcard West Division Winner vs West Wildcard If wildcards are from one division, it will be: Division winner with best record vs Wildcard with worst record Division winner with worst record vs Wildcard with best record
Finn finally said something that was quite funny................probably true, but definitely funny...
Crushing!!!! F#%&*ing Mike Gonzalez cost me the game. I am just hoping to make the playoffs at this point

Words cannot express how much I hate Mark Prior. I must have been on crack to draft him so early. What a joke this guy is.
Yeah, the whole "keep the quotes in the sig and then shove it in their faces at the end of the year" thing isn't quite working out like I planned.
Ah, fade, you've inspired me to change my sig. The "focus on hitters" philosophy doesn't seem to sting as bad as you claim.
Adding another thought in a shameless attempt to show my sig twice - of the 4 teams that Fade called out for lack of pitching to start the season, only Castor's squad has struggled. Jent, Rook and myself would be 3 of the 4 playoff teams if we started today.
