SSG, lets see, so far you took Piazza, Glavine and Benson that I had lined up, other than that, not a bad team for last pick.

I'm here. I'm always here, damnit!!

Let's do a quick poll.

It's only the sixth round, but who do you think has the best team so far?

Personally, I think jent's squad looks pretty damn good.

Sub-poll

Who has the best duo at outfield?

Johnny Damon/Magglio Ordonez
Gary Sheffield/Bernie Williams
Brian Giles/Raul Mondesi
Richard Hidalgo/Ken Griffy Jr.
Vladimir Guererro/Andruw Jones
Barry Bonds/Manny Ramirez

I like Bonds/Ramirez here. Bonds is old, though, so he's an injury risk. My second choice would be Guererro/Jones.

I've got about 5 or 6 sleeper picks lined up. I'm curious to see how many I get and who among y'all sees the same potential I see.

My Gary Sheffeld pick was risky. I know one thing...the Dodgers better trade him to the American League, cuz I think he has a lot of frustration to take out on the Dodger organization. If he doesn't get traded, I hope he doesn't sulk all season.

I did some figuring and while it may not mean much it is something we can wrap our heads around until the next pick is up.Based on each players ranking among other players of the same positions I got an average ranking of the players on each team.

Ren - 14
Fadeaway - 8
PSJ - 11.4
Nemers - 3
Rob - 8.8
Wink - 13
Behad - 8.333
DaveV - 5.333
Finn - 6.5
SSG - 7.66

Nemer's is looking pretty strong early,I also like Fadeaway's team but Mcgwire's 27 among 1bmen hurt his rankings but should Big Mac stay healthy we all know he is better than the 27th best 1bman.And not to pat my own back I think I'm doing pretty well considering I picked last. It's still early and alot can/could change but so far I think the edge has to go to this Nemers character, who is this guy anyway?

Yeah Ren, it keeps making me retype it over and over and won't remember it.

Remember SSG, those ranking are for total points scored. Some guys have much better per game average, but didn't play as many games, so they are ranked lower.

Overall I'd say everyone is damn close.
This has been a good draft.Even my number 9 team could challenge number one.

1. Best Team: Fadeaway: How can you argue with his picks. His biggest risk was McGwire, the best power hitter in the history of the game, so you look at his team and go wow.

2. Pretty Solid: Springfield: Plenty of Quality players in Chipper, Alomar, Thomas, and Brown. Brown needs wins. If he doesn't get them, bump this team down a few notches.

3.Banking on Elders: Lubbock: Will Griffey and Maddux return to their glory? If so, Lubbock has put together a solid team that is half no names, and half mega stars.

4. Strongest OF: Finn: Ramirez and Bonds are heads and shoulders above the other OF combos. Finn's failure to get Leiter could be his downfall. Chan Ho has more potential, but could falter as he's done in the past.

5.Risky Pick: Ren: Elarton is a 20 game winner, but is unproven. Having Martinez helps reduce the risk, but this pick was still too early. All that being said, Elarton won 20 in Enron, so he's proven he can win anywhere. Maybe even in Colorado.

6. Biggest Gamble: Extra Crispy: Drafting last he decided to throw a curve ball at everyone else...taking two of the best catchers in baseball. It may backfire, but when you draft last, what the hell. You've got to take a chance. Somebody will trade for one of them and give a ton. You can bet on that. He will be busy declining trades in about two weeks.

7.Begging for a trade: Behad: Sheffield is the question mark.

8.Best Potential: Wink: Leiter, Wells, and Kent are proven, but who in this league trusts any of these players? Apparently Wink does. He snagged good players late. May just pay off.

9. Speed Demons: Katy: Lots of speed from Ordonez and Damon will give Katy the heads up on the basepaths. If Katy nabs Castillo watch out. Nomar already on the shelf. That hurts a little because it was the first pick.

10. Me. Dead last. Just because I'm very modest.

I'll be checking in periodically though the evening.

Insofar as teams I like Phi Slamma's picks thus far.

Biggest trend I see is the early run on outfielders. Still alot of top line infielders on the board.

By the way, Biggio was my next. You completely muffed my whole draft at this point. I was guaranteeing he would slide down to me. That's Why I was willing to go auto for so long today. Ughhh! Now I don't who I'm gonna take. ......

Took Smoltz. Might be too early, but I really wanted him this year.

Not anymore. His biggest risk is Smoltz. Risky, risky, risky. You never know how a pitcher is gonna return from Tommy John surgery, esp. someone as old as Smoltz.

Smoltz is only 33. He's reportedly healthy, never played at all last year, so I expect him to rebound quite nicely.
