I decided to go with big Mark McGwire. Probably the most critical pick for me in the whole draft. This could make or break my team. If he's healthy, he's the best first baseman out there. It's a big if, though.. All the reports say that he's feeling good and is ready to tear it up again after a half season of rest. Plus, the fact that he just signed a two year contract extension leads me to believe that the team thinks he's okay. It's still a f*cking risky pick, but I figured if I waited until the next round he wouldn't make it back to me. So tell me, was anyone else planning to take McGwire this round?? I'd like to know if I guessed right.. ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel boy.
It was either McGwire or Glaus for me. You made my decision that much easier. McGwire should have a big year. Even if plays garbage games he will still hit 50. New strike zone may impact him a little. Glaus is unknown to me. But 47 HRs look pretty good so I had to take him. If he could get his average up he'd be great. Rolen was a risk in my book. I'm outta here if all 10 of us aren't here. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
Well, since you took Mac. I decided that I needed to get a 1B before the best were gone. I had Sweeney last year and he was a great addition. ------------------ Producer at SportsRadio 1340 KKAM visit me online at www.robertsnyder.net 2000 Sportscaster of the Year @ KTXT-FM, Lubbock
Here, and ready to pick ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley)
I got Glaus early last year off waivers (I drafted Cirillo), but traded him midway through the season for Jason Kendall after Pudge went down. Good points ---> He hits a ton of home runs and gets boatloads of RBIs. He also gets the occasional stolen base. Bad points --> He is very hot and cold. One week he'll be logging 8-10 point games on a regular basis, then the next week he'll be getting 1's, 0's or -1's. He also strikes out a lot and makes way too many errors (33 last year). I don't mean to dis your pick. I think it's a damn good one. Just wanted to let you know how he worked out for me in the past. ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel boy.
I had him last year as well and was very pleased with him. There are not a lot of big hitting 3rd baseman anymore. ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley)
Thanks for the input. Keeping my fingers crossed. The Angels line up looked suspect to me, but the web sites think they are pretty good. I hope so. ------------------ humble, but hungry.

Well, gentlemen I put it on Auto-pilot for the night, but I'll be back from 8a-12p tomorrow and about 7p-9p tomorrow. If the picks are lining up the way I think they will, then I will go on Autopilot until Monday night. I agree Jent. Drafting is a long process, but it will be worth it in the end. Everyone will have the team they wanted. I also think it's funny that Behad and Finn are the ones slowing us down today. Shoes on the other foot, but it's all good. I think we are moving at a decent speed. It's like sex. Do you want to do it slow and enjoy every minute. Or are you bang bang thank you mam. Everybody is different. I like the slow draft. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
decided to take magglio to get my second good outfielder..i felt he was best on board ------------------ How Sweet It Is! How Sweet It Is! Gene Peterson on the rockets winning the 1995 championship over the Orlando Magic
Ordonez is damn good (yet another player I had last year..) and he'll only get better this season. Rob is up. Who he'll take is anybody's guess.. ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel boy. [This message has been edited by fadeaway (edited March 04, 2001).]
I'm gonna guess he takes Lima LIMA TIME!!!!!! ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley)
Ya know, even if Lima wins 10-15 (which will be great if he can), he still will have a bloated era and suck as a fantasy player. BTW, didn't Rob say he was gonna be on auto till Monday night? Oops, I guess we won't have another pick till 7 tonight. ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS [This message has been edited by Behad (edited March 04, 2001).]
He posted in the rumor mill of the Baseball league saying he would be gone most of the afternoon and that he didn't want to use auto-pick. ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley)
I finally got a day off tomorrow, so I don't have to worry about getting to bed early. However, last night was filled with lots of alcohol, and a 3am alarm clock this morning has left me very tired. If I fall asleep on my keyboard, somebody wake me. ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS
so who all is here right now (obviously, not rob)? i can stay here all night so u wont have to worry bout me holdin up things. btw, what do yall think bout my pick (raul mondesi)? ------------------
Well Robb pretty much killed any hopes I had for picking twice today (actually 4 times..... b2b selections make my picks go way too fast,I wait and I wait, then it takes a couple of minutes to make my picks and then I wait some more). Anyway enough b****ing(sorry Tb-Cain/clutchcity.net feedback forum ) I am liking my picks/slash team so far;what do y'all think? ------------------ I'm worse at what I do best And for this gift I feel blessed
