Beasley has a shot if you ask me. Look at his numbers in college--they are very comparable to Kevin Durant's in terms of the "he needs to play in another league" factor. Both were second picks also. But look at the separation Durant's made on him, despite just one more year of experience in the NBA. Granted Beasley is still moving up and there's no telling where he will settle, but given some of the offseason stories about him it don't look good.

I agree with this. Rasheed Wallace one of the greatest underachievers IMHO. Also Tim Thomas- the guy should have been LBJ before LBJ.

i dont really see how he is a big underachiever...

people ITT are saying he doesn't work hard... how the hell do you know ? none of you a damn thing about what he does in the offseason.

also, injuries have been a factor and that largely out of his control.. stuff happens.

as far as playoff success, its not like hes ever been on a team that was supposed to go any farther than it did. he has never been on a championship caliber squad, until this year, but hes kind of over the hill now.

Look at his build he's an exact clone of LBJ: malone's body with a guards agility and athletecism. He has nice perimeter skills as well, too bad he never took the time to work on a post game or proper defense and rebounding techniques.

Uh, there was once a guy not named Akeem that was drafted ahead of one of the most over achievers. How ironic. Oh... and that Tmac guy.

Wasn't Juwan Howard supposed to be the power forward of the ages when he first started playing? That was a let down.

I don't think Tmac ever had the potential Carter ever had.

No. He wasn't. Chris Webber was the star of the fab five. People were actually somewhat surprised when Howard started putting up 20 and 10. His numbers steadily improved for a few years. He got that 100 million dollar deal, then the decline began.

And it's interesting, because say what you will about Juwan Howard, but he was a hard working professional. If anything, he over-achieved in his career.

Also, I agree that Rasheed Wallace is right up there with Derrick Coleman. I also agree Tim Thomas is up there. And we can put Lamar Odom and Darius Miles right next to Timmy.

Oh, another guy, Bison Dele. What was his real name? Was it Brian Williams? That guy could have been a beast, but he didn't even like to play basketball.

Truth is - TMAC is probably more gifted than Vince Carter (athletic ability aside).

Tracy had a better shot, had better handle, better court vision, better defense (ability to play better D), and had a good frame (quick 6 feet 8 guard/forward) ...

I think TMAC is more of an underachiever than Vince.... TMAC talent is undeniable but he just didn't work at it. That's what separate him from the likes of Kobe and Jordan in my opinion

How about Wilt Chamberlain? The ultimate definition of someone who played for his stats first, and never really understood how to win. A guy so supremely talented he has records no one can touch, yet found a way to lose the big one again and again. Realistically, there should be no reason why he shouldn't have had at least half of Russ's championships. He should be the Babe Ruth of Basketball, and yet, he's not even the SECOND greatest at his position.

This is taking Vince hate to another level. Vince isn't even close to being the biggest underachiever in the NBA.

why are people claiming these guys haven't worked hard ? that is complete BS...

injuries have kept t-mac from being one of the greats and nothing more. like JVG says, his body has just betrayed him.

Actually Tmac admitted that he lost "passion for the game" last year as an excuse for last seasons decline.
