Deporting an illegal immigrant is cruel and unusual punishment. That's awesome.

Your analogy is horrible. A police officer has the discretion to judge whether or not the intent of the law, public safety, outweighs the importance of someone breaking the law to save someone's life. Furthermore, a ticket isn't a guilty verdict but rather a summons to appear in court. A judge also has the discretion to weigh all the facts and circumstances of the situation to determine whether or not a speeding ticket should be enforced or not. People get off for speeding for a lot of reasons. Just like if Mexico were on FIRE for example, common sense would dictate that we allow Mexicans to cross the border without documentation for their own safety.

So easy to say when you haven't been in this country your entire life and are then told you have to get out.

glynch with the name calling. I suppose you would approve of my random selection of any illegal immigrant, be they migrant worker or MS13 member, and allow them to roam your home for a decade or two because that seems to be what you advocate of this country. LMK

Unfortunately that's the future his parents made for him. The same way a child in this country is left with social services when their only relative serves jail time. Is that our fault as a nation for enforcing the law or is that the parents fault for putting their child in that situation? Tell me what would happen to crime in this country if we suddenly stopped prosecuting people who had children because there would be no blood relative to take care of the child? How would that work out? Probably much like the illegal immigration phenomenon is working out.

I would dearly love for you to experience what this kid is going through, and what the young woman I know is going through, who's mother is here legally and married to an American citizen, whose younger brother was born here and is an American citizen, and who has lived her entire life in the United States as a middle class person, going to American schools, going to college and graduating, a champion triathlete, who works, who pays taxes, who also, I would wager, speaks better English than you do, being told that she is being kicked out of the country shortly, absent a miracle. All because her mother made the mistake, many years ago, of going into labor while on a visit to Mexico. Yes, I would dearly love for you to experience that. You don't have a heart, you have a piece of stone in your chest.

Not picking on you specifically Deckard but....

You know its this kind of nonsensical thinking that is killing this country...

Having gone through the proper procedures to bring my wife to this country from overseas it pisses me off when people like this break the law and get a simpathy pass by weak minded liberals.

We had to file all the red tape paperwork, pay the enormous fees, go through the embassy interview process, the medical exams, killed a gazillian trees with all the forms and triplecat paperwork, not to mention the time span we had to wait....when all I had to do was fly her to Mexico and drive down into big bend park in my jeep and pick her up?

The laws are there so lets please enforce them for EVERYONE

If you did a search, you would find that I have posted before about immigration and I'm not happy about the situation. I've said before that it is absurd to make those around the world trying to come to this country legally to have to jump through crazy hoops to do so, while illegal immigrants pour over the border in their millions. But why do they come? Because business wants them here for their cheap labor. The situation I'm talking about is far different and it pisses me off that people cannot see the difference.

My step-brother's father was nearly deported when he tried to renew an expired passport because he couldn't provide his birth certificate nor some document proving he was the son of an American citizen. The small town he was born in had its records flooded out several years earlier. He served two tours of combat in Vietnam and had lived here 50 years but he was treated like a criminal because he didn't have the right paperwork. We all have our stories and life isn't always fair.

Yes - life isn't fair. That's why some get to bend the law and skirt it and other don't. That's why you can make an exception for this kid. Is it fair he gets to stay while others have to leave?

Hey - life isn't fair, right?

Deporting an American should be illegal, and this kid is an American in the spirit of the law and everything that American stands for. This kid isn't just a citizen, he's the example of what this country was founded on.

He committed no crime. What law did he violate? What injustice has he committed? How can you say a 4 year old child has committed a crime and should be kicked out for it???

True, let's keep him and kick out some hillbilly from the deep south instead.

That should even up the score.
