Sign him up! That highlight clip was awesome - but I didn't see anything but fast break points. It doesn't look like his rebounding is anything worth talking about. I'd like to have him around for the Fabio points, but only if we can't get one of our primary targets...Artest?
I really wasn't trying to bait anyone. It is a legit subject to go in-depth. So many people throw out ideas without exploring them thoroughly and it becomes silly surface analysis. So let's go. Jazz lineups after the starting lineup: Deron, Korver, AK, Boozer, Okur Deron, Korver, Harp, Millsap, Okur Deron, Brewer, Harp, Millsap, Boozer Okay, I see some potential at playing Hermann at the SF spot here. Rafer, Mac, Hermann, Scola, Yao Yeah, Bat or Mac would always guard their SG and Hermann could be in a 3-man rotation here always guarding AK or Harp. I think the Jazz are a little different. Their wings, with the exception of Brewer, are not big iso drivers. AK can pump drive and so can Harpring, but that's after they've already gained an advantage of position on the catch. Hermann's D here is all about the team D: bumping cutters, making proper switches, shading pickers the right direction. But yeah, Hermann could definitely play a fair amount of minutes vs. the Jazz at the 3 position in theory. Lakers: I don't know what they'll be like next year when Bynum comes back. In the playoffs, Odom has played the 4, so the 3 has been manned by Radmanovic (starter), Walton, and Kobe (when they go small backcourt). When Radman comes back in, he plays the 4. So, there's no way Hermann will guard Kobe, yes on Radman but Radman starts and then only comes back off the bench as a 4. That leaves Walton...I'll say maybe on Walton. Overall, the I'll say the jury is out on Hermann playing SF vs the Lakers next year mainly b/c of their lineup questions (Bynum?)...there's a possibility though. Suns: Their wings are Diaw, Bell, Hill, Barbosa, and Barbosa. This is purely opinion, but I don't think Hermann would be on the floor against any of those guys except for maybe Grant Hill. Actually, I think Grant Hill is a great litmus test. Hill is old, 6'9", a legit offensive talent hampered by injury but has enough mobility and shooting to be effective. He's considered a defensive liability against quicker wings, but his play surely justifies a decent amount of playing time. Hermann could be a Hill type player for the Rockets; maybe better or maybe worse. I would love to see Hermann match-up against Grant Hill. I think it would show a lot about where Hermann fits in in the L. If he is worse than Hill defensively at the SF position, then I don't think he'll play much SF at all in the L, no matter how efficient of a scorer he is. Will follow up more later.
