I don't think that Cleveland will let Boozer go. He can be a perfect complementary player for Lebron for years to come.

I can guarantee you that we're not giving Boozer up. He's been saving our butts all season and the media up here is praising the hell out of him.

    Just B,

The problem is that you guys can only offer him an early bird contract, and can not match someone who offers more than that.

    Enter Houston !!

DaDakota, exactly how do we enter into the picture? You've convinced me about Boozer, but I don't see how we can get him.

From what I've seen of him, he seems to be progressing fairly well. Reminds me of a Jake Voskuhl type player. Plays hard. Very good skills.

Man, if we could just get our hands on a K-Mart, Sheed, or Okur type player. A real PF that has offensive skills AND can play hard nosed defense (aggressive). I mean, Cato would be our perfect player if he had an offensive game. Anyone remember Jim Peterson? He was a balanced player. Especially when he was mad! Heh...at least someone like him.

Houston isn't a player for Boozer until Boozer establishes that he is definitely leaving the team. Without a real threat of losing Boozer, Cleveland has no incentive to cooperate with any sign and trade deals. No way Cleveland trades Boozer without some team under the salary cap moving to sign him for 6+ mil.

There is another interesting omission from my initial list: Stro Swift is a RFA. How high will the Grizz go to match? L. Wright is making 7+M and Pau will be a max player. If only there was a way the Rockets could do to them what they did to us with Posey. I, know, I know the Grizz are not as cheap as our Cheap b*stard...

On the bright side though if Stro gets bid out of the Grizzlies range by a team with cap space that would leave other FAs available for the MLE + TA

No his offense is good. Good touch, good hands, 3 point range, even some post game. Love to have him for the right price. If anything we shouldn't chase him b/c we need a mobile 4. He's a good team defender but we need someone who can chase the Nowitski's & Walker's all the way out to the 3 point line.

Can you explain that for me again? I don't understand why Cleveland would be limited in how much they can offer him.

It would be AWESOME if we could get Boozer.

    SJC,

Remember the Cuttino Mobley situation? That is exactly the same situation that Clevland is in.

Same as Rashard Lewis in Seattle.

Since they were 2nd round picks their teams are limited in what they can offer them.

Same situation as Gilbert Arenas was last year with the Warriors and it will be the same situation this year for players like Ginobili of the Spurs and Okur of the Pistons although the Spurs and Pistons will have monies exceeding the MLE level. But the Pistons are still sweating on Okur.

Carlos Boozer has a team option for 2004 and afterward the Cavs will have his Bird rights

I thought Boozer would only have Early Bird rights next year, but if I understand it correctly, I think MemphisX is right. The Cavs have a team option after which the Cavs will have his full Bird rights.

    Sorry DaDakota. :(

In today's ESPN Insider, it mentions that Cleveland has a team option on Boozer for next season. So, looks like he won't be part of the free agent pool.

Exactly. And, he's seen improvement every year in the two main categories that matter from that position (rebounds and points) while remaining a decent defender and

Does he deserve a max contract? No, but probably close.

Kenny Thomas got 50 mil, so what is K-Mart 'worth'? He'll get 80, at least.

I think Marcus Camby can opt out this year. He wouldn't top my wish list of big men, but if he opts out I think the Rox would probably make him an offer. Question is, would you be interested at the right price? I think I would.

BOOZER...I want Boozer here. Or maybe Sheed.

A PF who goes outside alot is called a SF.

Kmart looks wayyy better with Kidd. He's a good player, but it's a facade. Someone's going to get ripped off. He doesn't even have a go-to move.

Okur is okay. Keon Clark is nice but probably costs too much. Rasheed would be nice if we could afford him and he doesn't act up.
