[FA from the bargain bin] CJ Miles (aka the only Jazz we would want, actually)

Then up the ante to $9M over three years and watch the Jazz squirm. The Millers are very frugal and they have several near max contracts. Since they don't want to go over the luxury tax for a non-rotational player, CJ would come back home to Texas.

They are at $60.5M total payroll with AK47 at $15M; Boozer, $11.5M; Okur, $8.5M; Harpring, $6M; Williams, $5M (and due a big payday next year); and Korver, $4.75M.

However, aside from the Texas pride aspect, Miles would fit perfectly into our rotation. He would allow T-Mc to move back to SF and Battier as the Sixth Man, a role he to which he is best suited.

Sign Gerald Green and Carl Landry while adding another athletic 4/5 like JaVale McGree or Serge Ibaka or Mareese Speights and we are well on our way to ending our height-challenged non-athletic status.

While we're at it, let's add Antoine Wright or Maurice Ager and get rid of Luther, Bobby Jackson and Chuck Hayes. On your mark, get set, go!

Oh, I forgot. Morey is the GM. :(

    Few things:

    1) Tmac DOES play SF right now.. even if the lineup card doesn't show it. Battier consistently guards the better wing player, including the smaller, faster ones (Wade). I'm on board with Miles if the price is right, but let's not act like Tmac is playing out of position. If anything, Battier is playing out of position.

    2) Miles for 3 million/year doesn't leave much room for Landry. All signs indicate he's expecting more than the LLE -- hell we might not have much left for Miles after Landry, much less Miles and Green.

    3) Ager isn't a FA and thus a trade would depend on the Mavs approval. I do like Wright, but as stated earlier, funds are pretty much zero after Landry. I've been reading your post for years, and I know you're smarter than this regarding Morey -- so I'm gonna assume you're just being facetious. Thumbs down! :)

I personally think his teammate Morris Almond will be a better player.

because his IQ is greater than 10, which makes him overqualified for OU.

I don't know if the Jazz would match, and if so, let them - they are paying out a ton of $$$ already.

I agree. I think Almond in the next year can do the exact same thing that Korver does. However, it's 4 years before he's free.

Utah would still match and dump him at the deadline to some basketball purgatory, if they had to, for a trade exception. They're not going to let us get one over on them. That's the way it works between rivals. Miles and his agent would have to consider if they did this, do they really want to go to Memphis or some place like that for the next 3 years.

Before making any offer you have to get Landry locked up, otherwise you open the door for other teams to steal him away while we try to sign CJ or someone like him.

Actually, you nailed it in one. I just hope Landry understands the implications of his 'free agency' and gets resolution promptly, at once, already.

This CJ Miles has a little shake n wiggle in the repertoire ;)

CJ Miles (the Jazz one) maybe cuz he's a lefty has a little Cuttino Mobley look, but that doesnt mean his game's the same. Still I'd take a poor man's taller Cuttino.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CJ_Miles

Calvin Andre "C.J." Miles, Jr. (born March 18, 1987 in Dallas, Texas) is an American professional basketball player, drafted by the Utah Jazz with the 34th pick of the 2005 NBA Draft. He is from Skyline High School in Dallas and plays shooting guard. He committed to the University of Texas at Austin, stating that if he was not selected in the first round of the NBA Draft he would attend the school. Miles later changed this decision after the Jazz offered a two-year guaranteed contract equivalent to that of a late first round selection.

During the 2005-06 season, the Jazz assigned Miles to the Albuquerque Thunderbirds of the NBA Development League (D-League) in order for him to attain more experience.[1]

After playing 21 games during the 2006-07 NBA season, he was again assigned by the Jazz to the D-League, this time to the Idaho Stampede.[2]

Miles is perhaps best known as the subject of one of the most memorable post-game interviews of the 2006-07 NBA season, where coach Jerry Sloan stated, "I don't care if he's 19 or 30. If he's going to be on the floor in the NBA, he's got to be able to step up and get after it. We can't put diapers on him one night, and a jockstrap the next night. It's just the way it is." Miles at the time was the youngest player on the Jazz roster.[3]

Miles has seen limited playing time in his first 3 seasons with the Jazz, occasionally being sent down to the NBA Development League in his first two seasons. His impressive preseason showing gave him the starting job in the 2006-07 NBA season, which he quickly lost. After Gordan Giricek was removed from the Jazz's lineup partway through the 2007-08 NBA season, his playing time increased significantly and he showed significant signs of improvement, although since Kyle Korver has arrived his playing time has again decreased.
