my first profesional soccer game. It was awsome. I had a great time. Hopefully KC wins, and we can play them at home. I had a great time. I'm still trying to figure out the culture of soccer.
That game was so awesome, it seemed like everybody in the stadium was on their feet for the last hour of the game. Great atmosphere and a great comeback to win it. The only thing sweeter than advancing in the playoffs is to do it at Dallas' expense. If Kansas City eliminates Chivas USA tonight we'll host them next weekend. And it was nice meeting you SwoLy-D.
I was on my feet for most of the game. I have to save myself for tonight at Toyota Center. There's not a bad seat in that stadium for football or futbol, except when they are near the touchlines, then you can't really see. (it is called the touchlines, right?) Man, I wish I had some eggs or something, cause I saw their team bus on 45 north last night. Jessica the Dynamo chick was there. I saw her twice. It was neat.
Dale, dale, DYNAMO!! Dynamo= 2006- 2010 MLS champs!! Rockets= 2008- 2015 NBA champs!! Book it, biches!!
We've got KC next week! Also, seconding Kam's praise for Robertson. It's old, ugly and lacking amenities, but the sight lines are fantastic for both sports and the seats are right on top of the action. I hope they can keep the stadium's character if/when they decide to expand, although right now it's perfect for both UH and the Dynamo
Bravo Dynamo! Great job guys, I didn't have any doubt that they would pull this one out. I apologize for not posting earlier in this thread, but I actually attended the first game here in Frisco and cheered my arse off for the Dynamo, although I thought they played a pretty lame game. I was heckled on my way out (playfully) by a few Dallas fans (not so coincidentally, they were the ones I kept pissing off before the game by asking if they knew where I could get some "Dynamo gear"...I had it coming ) Anyways, one thing I do have to give FC Dallas and that is they have a great soccer stadium and not a single bad seat in the house. Hopefully we will have our very own in Houston some time in the near future (either that or a thorough multi-million dollar innovation/expansion of Robertson Stadium...this may actually be a better working alternative given the ideal location of Robertson in the middle of everything, and accessible to everyone).
The Dynamo are negotiating with the city to build a stadium somewhere across 59 around MMP and George R. Brown. I think they plan to build it pretty cheaply so it won't be anything too fancy (probably close to PHP in Frisco) but it will be ours and in a good location. The negotiations are close to finishing, or could be finished already and they just want to wait until after the election this week to announce anything.
Just found a way to "steal" the highlights from mlsnet.com press play: <embed src="mms://a1503.v115042.c11504.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/1503/11504/v0001/mlbmls.download.akamai.com/11504/2007/open/gp/11/110207_fcdhou_gp_350.wmv" height=320 width=400 autostart=false> Same here, DrLudicrous. Dave, I couldn't find you in that massive crowd. After not having enough room for 3 of us where our seats were supposed to be, we moved to 201 when our real section was 200. A coworker who was late to the game came during halftime. He only missed Dallas' score. I had a coworker up in 203, near the press box, and I was able to find her and her family. We were by the wall. Like you say, Dr, we spent most of our time standing up. It was one of my coworkers' first EVER soccer game and he was turned a Dynamo Fan after that game. "HOLY sh*t", he said, "Man... I never knew it was THIS WILD", he said. "Dude! We're constantly on Dallas' goal and almost score 5 times, but they get to our side ONE TIME and they score? WTF?!?" . "Yeap. You see how some ties are really losses, freaker? I hate that too", I answered. I was getting upset at how so many people don't understand the OFFSIDE and boo every time we got called for it. We were attacking so much we couldn't keep from being offsides. Every time we got called for something, like the nullified goal, people booed. Didn't they get it...? I am wondering how much of the crowd is really a soccer-knowing crowd and how much of it is just "fan". Nonetheless, it was a great atmosphere. HOLY MOLEY, was that a beauty of a free kick by BRAD DAVIS...? Also, I think the catalyst of the entire offensive attack after the half was Ngwenya... his speed and dribbling confused the sh&t out of the hoops. Last but not least, I hate RUIZ. We like to say in Spanish that "El pescado se atrapón la red" (the fish got caught in the net).
Well, it was my first soccer game, too, and I have to say I had a blast! I haven't had that much fun at a game since the Astros were in the playoffs! A friend and I just walked up to the box office for tickets and we ended up sitting right next to El Batallon. They really made the game a lot of fun and we picked up on their chants as best we could... some were easier than others! I don't know what "culiero" means exactly, but the sentiment was claro! "Dallas Sucks" we picked up just fine! But yeah, it was an awesome time and I urge everyone who hasn't been to a game to come out against KC. The fans are friendly and I will be there for sure!
