I concur an end of the rotation bench player at best and a good emergency guy in a pinch.

But right now our bench has three guys that are wasting spots.

    1. Dorsey - just not NBA material.
    2. Cook - See Dorsey
    3. Taylor - Not an NBA player yet

He would be ahead of all 3, IMO.

That's not saying much that Harris can beat any one of those guys out for a benchwarmer role. We're not hurting for end of the bench players. Warming the bench is an easily attainable skill. None of those 4 (including Harris) would sniff the rotation, and if any of them do it's just means we're in deep doggy doo healthwise and handicapping Adelman's rotation options.

Harris is not a diamond in the rough anymore, potential isn't a word associated to him anymore. He is what he is in this stage of his basketball career.

At the end of the day, much ado about nothing.

But with the history of injuries it would be nice to have a guy that could step in and help the team win some games, and none of those 3 I mentioned could do that whereas Harris could.

And he is hitting about 50% from 3pt range....maybe he has gotten better there....that would be huge..

Not feeling your impassioned case for him lol.

You're getting all hyped up over a journeyman scrub. If Adelman had to put Harris in the game for any meaningful minutes than it prolly means we're FUBAR'd healthwise, and our record would reflect that even with a Mike Harris.

I like guys at the end of the bench that can play in a pinch, and work hard in practice and push the starters.

And Mike Harris proved he could play in the NBA 2 years ago, when he played for us and shot 50% from the field.

I hear what you are saying, doesn't make or break the season, but I hope he makes it back.

Vipers forward Harris might be team's next NBA call-up

HIDALGO — The likelihood of Rio Grande Valley Vipers forward Mike Harris remaining with the team for the rest of the season dwindles by the day.

Harris’ hot start has drawn some attention from NBA scouts, according to those affiliated with the team, and it could be just a matter of time before he gets a call-up. What does Harris think of all this?

"It’s not up to me," said Harris, who poured in an NBA D-League career-high 32 points in Thursday’s 135-112 victory against Albuquerque. “I just know that while I’m here, I’m a part of the Vipers. The main thing for me is to focus here and focus on winning. You can’t control whether you get a call-up or not."

I wish we could get rid of deadweight such as Cook and Dorsey and bring in Mike Harris. I love his attitude and hustle and he is the type of player that thrives in a Rockets uniform. May not be the biggest or the strongest but he will play his heart out. You can never have enough of those players since our roster is always susceptible to injury.

I agree with you, ElPigto. He'd fit right in with these Rockets. They have an open spot right now, but are keeping an eye on the luxury tax. The Rockets basically need to make a move, but so do many other teams so kind of hard to pull off a $$ savings deal right now. If you want to take on money then I'm sure a lot opens up to you.

I hope they're able to move Cook as an "expiring", but don't mind him as much because if the Rockets still had Rafer (over Lowry), they'd be downgraded at the point and still have the same dollars owed (only wrapped in one player at 4 times the price of Lowry). Unfortunately, Dorsey has one great skill -- rebounding. He has no feel for the game though ... can't stay on the floor, can't (yet) put himself in the right positions, can't defend without fouling. I don't think he'll be anywhere near the Rockets next season.

I wouldn't expect a lot of players being called from the NBDL until teams are allowed to sign players to 10 day contracts which I believe is in a couple of weeks. I believe Mike Harris should be in the NBA but I don't think it will be the Rockets unless they move Joey Dorsey. I believe the Rockets will leave that 15th spot open until the trade deadline because it gives them some flexibility to make trades. Only way they use that spot before is to sign a point guard.

End of bench players cop it a fair bit here. The last time around the knock on Harris was he didn't have the shooting range to play on the wing.

IIRC he was forced to cover SG due to injuries. That didn't turn out so well with a lot of posters turning against him. Prior to that he was another undersized "Morey" discovery playing PF.

If the coaches still like him and he's improved I don't see why it'd hurt to give him another shot. A 10 day contract (Jan 5) isn't going to hurt the team.

With the Raptor picking up Pop's contract off waivers that leaves the Rockets around $2.53M over the tax. The Rockets are likely sending Brian Cook ($3.5M) on an one way ticket to OKC in January.

DD, Harris is not a small forward and you know it, nor is that his natural position. I don't want anymore midgets on this midget laden roster. At one time many posters (and I won't mention any names) in the garm wanted the rookie Carl Landry cut from the team in order to keep Harris on the roster, so lets not go overboard about him being better than Jermaine Taylor right now. How come Harris has not been able to make an NBA roster over the years?

Who would people rather have on this team: Pops Mensah Bonsu or Mike Harris?

Pops. I was sad to see him go, I think his energy could have helped, but I understand it is a business

Do the Rockets have exclusive Rockets to Harris, because of the NBDL affiliation?
