A. The word "midget" has already been discussed as offensive in the BBS Hangout by a little person. B. You don't know much about Chinese basketball if you think they are all short. (Read the Chronicle) Offensive and stupid. How original for you?
No but as I recall their is no vulgarity on this BBS and you have violated policy so anyone should be banned it is you. You have no class at all. This is the type of trash talk that needs to be curbed. Groupie? hardly if you only knew but you don't and you never will.
Uhh Jeff did I refer to the "midgets" as China men? I said in China You misread the statement. He is the tallest player in China correct? so that would make the rest midgets or excuse me smaller players. He will be matched up with more taller players an stronger players so that refers to Valley of the Giants. I see nothing offensive there.
sorry i couldnt reply sooner ive been gone all night, but let me try and make a case for myself. if we trade with the clips more than likely we'll also get the #8 and/or #12 picks. with one or both of those picks we can pick up 1 or 2 of the following: hilario, borchardt, or amare. now who's to say those guys couldnt be as good as ming? sure ming has way more potential and size but he also comes with a lot more baggage. i dunno about u but i think if the chinese government told him to come back even if he had signed some papers he would. i might be mistaken but im pretty sure yao is really pro china and pro communism. we've already got a good shotblocker in griff and if cato can step up a lil he could become a servicable center. we also made it to the playoffs 2 years ago with almost the same lineup we're gonna have this year. now if we add odom and an improven griff we should be able to atleast make it to the playoffs next year. then once hilario, borchardt, or amare develop they'll be another presence in the paint. so you see we can still get our inside presence by and fill two needs at the center and SF positions by dealing the pick.
i agree and he definitely has. have you read anything about his displeasure in the chronicle or seen it on espn or whatever else. what we have is some private comments made public to this board only. the one public statement is questionable at best since we don't know the context of the interview.
u dont have to have a good attitude to be a good basketball player and thats what im talking about a good basketball player not a champion. some guy jus said he would rather have 12 guys that have won a championship that werent all stars on this team. i was jus sayin i think every team thats won a championship in the past decade had atleast one all star.
Ok, Pimp probably went over the line with one word, but no class? Um, hello, kettle? I'm the pot. Did you know you are black? I think everyone on here would agree that providing valuable information is a wonderful commodity. If you have legitimate information, and I think it is fairly clear that you have at least some degree of that, that's great. We are all better off for it. But, you are spending so much time calling people stupid and telling them to "choke" that no one is going to care. At some point, the price of your obnoxius attitude will not be worth the value of information you provide. It's like having a client who is a real pain in the ass. For a while, you are ok with him because he pays you well. Then, you tolerate him becuase the pay is decent. Finally, you get so sick of his ridiculous behavior, you say, "**** it! All the money in the world isn't worth having to deal with this *******." Troy, you are bordering on being that guy. You may not care and that's fine, but you HAD a chance to be a well-respected member of this BBS who other posters not only looked up to because of the information you had but trused and even relied upon. But, after all the insults and "I'm right and your wrong" 's and declarations and guarantees, you are instead becoming the village idiot. Sure, we all like the info. But, why should we tolerate the childish antics? In case you hadn't notices, there are others on here with sources also. What is probably the most offensive is the fact that you have tried to turn you friendships or acquaintences or sources or whatever you want to call them into a reason we should all believe your ability to evaluate talent. You can no more say how good Yao Ming will be than any of us. No matter who you know, that doesn't make your basketball IQ any higher than anyone else. In some instances, it might do exactly the opposite because of your obvious bias for your buddies. So, in conclusion, Troy, you really are faced with two options. You can either be a great guy who provides really terrific and insider info to all of us on a regular basis while joining in quality basketball discussions. Or, you can act like a jerk and eventually be laughed off the BBS no matter what "scoop" you are able to provide. I bet I can guess which you will choose.
im sorry if i got the wrong information but ive heard it will take him ateast 4 years to get good plenty of times. what did they ask francis? cus maybe they asked how will playing with ming affect ur game and thats an appropriate answer.
Troy would have never sat down next to his idol Jim ROME if it wasnt for him hanging on to steves coat tails in l.a.Troy works in the marketing dep for the rockets. He is about mid-twenties,and has a ego bigger than steves. Now,Troy you have put your PAL,steve in a NO WIN situation with rocket fans PERMANently. If we cave to steves demands, and get odom, then the crowd will ALREADY know BEFOREHAND that it was steve that made the ultimadum. He will get booed as soon as he and odom step on the court. If we get Ming,he will STILL be booed for being just as dumb as Cuttino on that talk show and they BOTH will be booed. UNLESS<steve and cuttino make amends, before they see him play ,and before the season, and make a public statment on tv supporting Yao,and it better be truthful other wise we will see right through it.
my "knowledge of the game" and me having friends as players does not make sense on why you think Rudy is safe if we do not make the playoffs. You think Les would get rid of Francis and say Oh Rudy it's ok maybe next year.....Wrong, apparently your knowledge of the game has clouded your way of thinking when it comes to how owners run their teams. I did not see Drayton rid himself of bags or bigs because they did not get past the first round. You see who was asked to step down. Coaches go before players ever do. Think to yourself one second if you had a team who did not make the playoffs in the last 3 years and you traded for this one or that one or drafted this one and that one and nothing worked ,and yet you had this coach you felt even though the team loved him was not a perfect fit for this team ,you would honestly rid yourself of a player because your coach that you hired" has been with the organization for years" would be a tragic mistake to let go? Please
how can u compare kandi to cato? kandi is gonna be the 2nd best center in the lague next to shaq soon. at 7-0 270 lbs hes prolly one of the only player in the nba who has a chance to contain shaq. i would love to get kandi on this team but we wouldnt be able to afford it. getting kandi and odom would fill both are SF and C needs. i dont understand how u couldnt honestly say that would ruin the franchise. does anyone else think this deal is stupid?
This quote: Seems to be saying that he has never had the chance to play with a player like this, so he has yet to know how he will help his game. He may have been asked "How do you think Yao Ming will affect your game?" It seems that this quote is being taken way out of proportion and people in this BBS *may* be overreacting to it. I am hoping this is true, but you never know. Maybe our bad luck from last year is spilling over into this year as well.
I think it's all about respect. Steve and Cat preach it all the time, you can check back to "The Best Damn Sports Show" and hear Cat say it clear "Picking up Jay Williams would be disrespectful to Steve." not those exact words I think Steve has some actual respect for the slow and lazy Cato; maybe he thinks the guy can become something great (Insert Laughter here.) Which is why he might see picking up a center like Ming would be disrespectful to Cato (I am actually laughing right now.) I guess Lamar comes to his mind becasue they are friends, and he knows that Rice won't be around for much longer. I can't blame the guy, if i was in his place and had the chance to bring in a good friend over a nobody, I might consider the same thing. It seems to me that for Steve, friends come first. Hopefuly this is the real case behind his comments; in which case we wouldn't have to worry about Steve bolting. Then again, I'm probably just a little wirery becasue of how late it is.

sorry about posting the quote twice my bad. anyway i think troy is right. we've had what three season in a row where we haven't even been able to make the playoffs. theres no way rudy could be around for too much longer if we keep this up.
Nice article really like the pot calling the kettle black. guess I am black but I never attack first except for when someone called someone I know a jackass.... You guessed right Jeff I take door #2, I do not consider my info "scoop" I told the BBS forum way before any interviews were entailed Steve's feelings toward drafting Ming. I was given the green light to do so and I did it. I do not post to be cool or take credit for "scoop" I ask if I could post his comment to get fan reaction and thats what happend. I am Anit-Ming for the simple fact that he has yet to prove himself other than playing in China in which the Willowridge eagles could beat those teams. If Ming is a superstar and Steve and Cat all jell then I am completely all for it. The fans who pay thousands of dollars each year for tickets will be rewarded with a team, they can be proud of. Did anyone ever stop to think how could we have ever gotten the #1 pick if we did not have a new arena in place and Stern wanting Houston to be a major market once again. If I am hated or considered a fool then fine, but I value people's opinions and consider all post interesting Info except for when someone calls you a liar or demands you have proof or else.
