Shouldn't his opinion be team oriented? Or should it be how HE performs? Big deal, he is an all-star. I will take 12 players who win championships and never make the all-star team anyday over an egotistical all-star who has never won anything (and with his attitude, probably never will).

yes he is, but he should'nt display this to the media it isnt smart. Why it isnt smart is because it turns the fans against you as you can see. He was a player who had migranes all season so fans gave him slack. All of a sudden we get the first pick and hes whining that he doesnt want this guy or that guy, but he wants a weed smoker who if caught is the third time i dont know the rules but that might be a long suspension.

I hope this won't come in the way of Francis signing an extension this summer. We'll see if he's true to his word or he'll change his mind because he doesn't get his way. Maybe when he meets the guy and plays with him on the court his mind will change. It's a shame, I thought we'd have trouble convincing Ming to be a Rocket but now that he wants in, Stevie doesn't want him and his attitude is making him a big question mark.

no his opinion shouldnt have to be team oriented thats what u want it to be. what would the lakers be without shaq and kobe? what would the bulls have been without Jordan or the rockets without a Hakeem? u cant win a championship without an all star. its not jus that he made the all star team hes a really good player and one of the best PGs in the game. i understand what u think about his attitude but he has the right to his opinion.

thats cool i can accpet that. i agree with u that he shouldnt be voicing his opinion to the media like that. however i disagree about odom. odom might have been caught doing drugs a couple times but i would rather have a proven player that everyone else on the team is happy with than a four year project thats gonna cost us our best player.

If he was the best PG in the league, then it would be a different story. But he has to fight with two other point guards (Miller, Davis) just to be third best behind Kidd and Payton. Heck, If Stockton wasn't 50 years old, I would consider him better than Francis. At least Stockton can make scrubs look good.

I may be over reacting but I am just plain angry right now.

i like odom as well but you must look at it like this. The clippers wouldnt be trading him if they werent worried about a potential drug problem. Id rather have a proven player but at what expense, id take a proven player anyday but not one who gets suspended for drugs.

Steve wouldn't walk. You think these quotes suggest someone who cares about the team? To get the most money he can, he either has to resign or do a sign and trade. We'd get compensation. What would you guys think about a three way trade that sent Francis to Washington, Miller and 6 to Houston, and Kwame Brown, Kenny Thomas, pick 11, and pick 15 to Cleveland? I've never been a proponent of trading Steve, but Bob's right. With this attitude, it's doubtful he'd ever win a championship, and there are other alternatives that are more team oriented.

with ming we wont be winning anything for atleast 3-4 years and more depending on how long it takes for him to get good and thats if he gets good. how is ming going to attract other players to houston? if anything i think players wouldnt want to come to houston

Stop with the hate. We wouldn't be winning in any amount of time with Lamar Odom. Where's your post presence? Ming may not be a sure thing, but he has a chance to give you a post presence, something you won't get with Lamar Odom. Also, Ming is a true center and shotblocker. Because of his size and defensive abilities, he commands respect from opposing defenses. That really opens things up for the rest of the team. Just because me-first Steve Francis can't understand that doesn't mean the rest of the league can't.

This same thing can apply to any player in this draft. There will be a domino effect no matter which player the Rockets pick. The only player in this draft who has proven himself against NBA talent is Jay Williams (he practiced against the olympic squad). Any other player is a roll of the dice. If the Rockets scouts and coaches (people who have actually watched Ming play) feel he is the real deal, then they should draft him, period.

How about if the Rockets pass on Ming and Ming becomes an NBA legend. Then what? What if the Rockets take whatever player Francis approves of and that player sucks while Ming reaches his potential? How will the dominoes fall then? Francis should just trust the scouting staff and coaches and commit himself to helping Ming and his fellow Rockets adjust and improve. Someone should also remind Francis that Jabbar didn't want or like Magic, but that playing relationship seemed to turn out alright.

Remember when the Lakers struggled a year ago? It was when Kobe had this exact same attitude problem that Steve is displaying right now. During the playoffs of that season, when they dominated, or this season, I challenge you to find me one quote from Kobe or Shaq that showed a similar attitude to what Stevie is showing now. Part of being a star is having the open mind to put the team before yourself and the leadership to stand behind what your team does.

We get the #1 pick in the NBA draft. A 7'5" center with many talents is available (fingers crossed). Rudy and CD have scouted this 7'5" center and like what they see very much thank you. Everyone who has played against this 7'5" center (including many former NBA players and some current ones as well) have stated he is the real deal. We (the Rockets) have one of the best backcourts in the NBA in Francis and Mobley. We have a really BAD center (Cato). We have a future star PF in Eddie Griffin who played 1 year of college ball. Francis himself only played 1 year of major college ball. Saying Ming will take time to get used to playing in the NBA is fair, but 3 or 4 years??? Give me a break!!!

Pau Gasol adapted nicely (and quickly) to the NBA game. Ming just may do the same.

Instead of being the TEAM leader and talking positive about drafting a player we need to strengthen the ballclub, Francis wants to talk about how this player might not help HIS game!!!

On the local sports radio shows, in terms of Francis' comments about Ming, what are the local radio commentators saying? the callers? Just curious as I am an out-of-towner.

And as you can tell, Francis is the opposite of all this.....which is pathetic to have Francis on this team. I think it would be great to have that trade, Cat....at least we could get a prominent point guard who can run a team and also get a quality player out of the draft.....

right now you really wont hear anything on the radio. The reason is on saturday and sunday houston is national radio. Until sunday from 8-10 so we'd have to wait until then.

    this sucks.

I find the quote kind of funny-He's never been able to play with players like that (Yao), indicating he's had experiences with players like Yao-how many 7-5 shooters does Francis know, and where are they hiding? There aren't more than maybe 20 living people over 7-5 in the 6 billion people in the world, are there?

Cat-I would do that trade in a heartbeat, if we assume Francis is giving us the watered down version. I guess all three of the great class of 99 PGs may be available this summer. Baron apparently is unhappy because of the ownership, and Cleveland doesn't want to pay Miller. If we grabbed either Butler or Tsika at 6, we'd have a very good team going: Ming-Griffin-Butler-Cat-Miller.

Looks like we're in for an eventful summer...

Hmmmm...w/ these workouts they have going for Wilcox, Hilario, etc., they should package the #15 w/ Francis and get a nice point guard in the draft along w/ Ming. Drop off sorry ass Francis in Vancouver or Denver!!! LET'S SEE HIM WHINE THERE!!!

Troy: So, you suggest that THE PLAYER is more important than THE TEAM and that A PLAYER knows what's better for THE TEAM than the people hired to make those decisions?

Funny thing is that Francis doesn't even know anything about Yao. Player like what? Watched any tape there Steve-o?
