having a debate with a friend. i say expiring contracts are very valuable in today's nba, and they've been used to land top players in the past. the rudy gay trade is just the newest one. he disagrees and thinks the calderon contract is what's holding up the trade rather than making it possible. whatever side of the debate you are on, i was hoping to collect a list of good players that have been traded for expiring contracts. can you guys remember any?
i remember that baron trade! IIRC ray allen was traded for szczerbiak's expiring plus the lotto pick. sheed to the pistons for expirings too i think... keep em coming
I can name a handful of friggin' retired players with expiring contracts that were traded for actual NBA players. Hell, I'm pretty sure Aaron McKie was coaching for the 76'ers the last time he was traded. Keith Van Horn was running an Arby's.
