Darn you, Rocketman95! The way this hangout forum has been going, someone's going to start a penis size thread now.
Ferrari 355 hands down. I drove one of those one weekend in South Beach a couple years ago...quite a ride. If you could pick up a pre-owned 360 Modena that would be sweet. My dad just got a CLK 55, and he raced a 360 Modena on Westheimer last week. The Modena was ahead by about 8 inches on the front bumper (mainly bc my dad has bad reaction time off the line). Anyhow, a modena would be over 100 for sure.
Oh but how sweet a ride that Modena is. I live in an area where Vipers, M5's, CLK's, Porche 911's (Turbo), and Ferraris are seen every day. Heck Ive seen a few Testorrosa's (sp?), out and about. But nothing gathered my attention as the day I went to my bank and sitting next to my car was a silver Modena. Needless to say, I oogled over it till the owner came out and looked at me like I was about to steal it. Modena all the way if at all possible.
Personally, I would go with a Toyota Supra. Great looking, not too common, not too pricey (relatively speaking) and plenty of horses.
Supras are everywhere but with a little tuning they can run with the big dogs it's a sleeper, not an exotic
ok, I think I have your car intrests pretty much down at this point in the thread. for your Bro to sell a NSX, he obviously has Ferrari tastes, but maybe not quite the wallet. you seem to like cars more suited to the ralley circuit, but with some creature comforts to go with the overall driving abilities. first of sll get Porche out of your head. great cars, but really do you want to own the mini van of sports cars. the NSX was 10 times cooler than a porche and performance is well at least acceptable. An obvious upgrade from the NSX is the Ferrari. its a no brainer. the ferrari dosnt seem to be your thing however so I would suggest looking into some more unknown cars. TVR is NO JOKE, but also not available. you seem to be anti Detroit (which I cant blame you for). so how about the Lotus Elise, anything maserati,http://www.passion-auto.com/72 bugatti eb110.htm or this bugatti, um http://bricklin.org/ an old racing Audi would be sweet hell just buy the ferrari. its one of those ultimate status symbols. Me, I will stick with the cerredo from VW. lil b**** halls, and has all the performance of your porche in the turns.
Why do you want an 8-cylinder Ferrari? Find yourself a 512 for 60-70 grand and let Koenig slap a couple of turbos in it. You'll be able to eat Porsches and crap Volkswagens.
get either the 911 Turbo (i've been in one, what a RUSH) or if you want a real classy but quick as hell car BMW M5... i love these cars...
Never been fortunate to be behind the wheel of any of these cars, but if I was going to spend the cash on a car in that class, there's no way I'd put it in a viper. I'm sure it can move, etc, etc, but it's just so...rough. DoD's take seems on target to me. I like J-Hova's taste in cars, too, but I only wish I knew what any of them drove like. As for the penis thing, I honestly always thought that was a myth perpetuated by jealous dudes. Until, that is, this girl I knew (and all her friends with her) kept going off on it. She was absolutely convinced that the more money someone dropped on a car the less he had to work with down low. It almost made me reconsider buying my namesake, until she told me that wasn't a little dick car. I'm not sure if that was meant to reassure me or was meant as a knock on my car... But, who cares, they are/were all strippers anyway. Her head looked like it was about to explode when she was trying to decide if she wanted a dude with a "just" comfortable financial situation and a healthy length -or- enough money to satisfy her expensive tastes and be a little short in between. And, yeah, I know everyone was kidding about it, but I was truly shocked that girls really think that.
Viper - too large and clumsy, bad quality, better sell after 5 years because you are going to have all those strange rattles and noises from things coming loose because of poor design and production BMW Z8 - gorgeous, but seems like a car you would drive to the country club, I don't know much of anything about these Ferrarri - better set aside a healthy chunk of cash for upkeep, what does a new clutch cost? Porsche - beautiful, incredible reliability, dealer support along with racing companies and endless development, powerful brakes, stiff chassis, great handling
Well, even if you get a 911 Porsche Turbo..they are not rare. I live in the Galleria area, and I see around 3 or 4 a day. What you may want to consider is a Porsche RUF edition. Now that would be bad ass!!!
A Weekend in South Beach in a Ferrari. Damn, that is living. I went to Miami for new years last year and we rented a Hummer to drive around. And you guys need to stop teasing me! I'm 26 and can't do the Modena YET. From looking around I don't think I can pick up a good quality 355 for less than 100, and frankly, I don't want to throw that much into a car right now. But a Porsche 911 Twin Turbo (1997 was the last year of the twin-turbo till 2002) will honestly outperform and handle the 355, the Modena and the CLK55. Though the 911 Twin Turbo is not as flashy because Carrera's are more common, the Twin Turbo is a rarity and hands down the best performing car around unless you get into the larger cylinder Ferrari's ( 550 Maranello, Porsche GT2, etc) I love the way AMG cars handle, the way the engine just pulls for more! My dad is getting a CL500, I tried to push him towards a CL 55 but i don't think thats a possibility. Doctor Robert, C Couldn't agree with you more on many of those points. My brother's NSX needed a new clutch, and he bought a racing one that cost over four thousand dollars. As far as the LOTUS pictures guys....give that a rest. I've had 3 very good friends buy Lotus Esprits, one '96 S4S, and two 98 Twin Turbo's. The best looking car on the road, if you can get it out of the shop. Imagine: Me and my friend pull up to these girls' place, in a beautiful Red Lotus, dressed to a "T". Ready for a night out. A few bottles of wine later from their place we head out, I ride with one of the girls while my friend drives his date in the Lotus, yet as we are leaving, my friend doesn't back out. First I think he's getting a little personable with the lovely young lady, then 10 minutes later he calls me to tell me the car won't reverse. So as nicely dressed as I was, i helped push it out of the driveway and then proceeded to watch the car completely die a block later. A call to a tow truck and an hour later, the mood was dead!! We still partied that night, but the mystique was truly not there on account of vaunted british technology!
Of the 3 you listed, I would go: Ferrari 355 TB (1996-1999) Porsche 911 Twin Turbo (1997-1998) BMW Z8
Okay, keeping in mind your objectives. 1) performance for price 2) amount of $$ to spend 3) reliability then, I'd pick the Porsche. They are not so rare that if something were to blow it, it wouldn't take 3-4 weeks to fix it. Plus, there are a couple of good Porsche dealerships in the Houston area (if you live there).
I'm actually going tonight to see a car that I never thought I would like, but I got a ride in a friends and had a BLAST! 2000 Silver GTS Viper with 7,000 miles and 3 years left on the warranty! 460 Horsepower and a boatload of torque! This one is just smooth, its fully loaded, has the 5-Spoke Wheels, low miles, the guy that owns it is a older doctor, and I can pay like under 70k for it. I know its not the 911 Twin Turbo, or the Ferrari 355, but both of those would be out of warranty and pricier. Give me a few years and i'll try to get the Ferrari 360 Modena! But for now this might work!
