Yes there is a record. Morey didn’t take over until 2007 so there is an electronic record. 2007 is well into the digital age. I just simply ask where in the record does it say Les commanded that the team must never tank and that Morey wasn’t “allowed” to rebuild through the draft. When did this mandate happen? You or a few on here haven’t been able to show me any quotes from Les or the writers sourcing their claims. All I received were obscure opinion pieces by Feigan that made these claims. When Harden wanted out of Houston the writers cited league sources or sources close to the matter or sources close to Harden. There were even direct quotes. All I found were Morey’s quotes on his philiosophy in terms of trading and signing players vice drafting. So it doesn’t add up. @Corrosion said he saw it quoted. I can accept that. At least he said he saw it. But simply saying it happened with no context or source makes little sense. If you have a problem with me asking questions to verify especially in this era of fake news, bias, and social media then you accept all these false narratives.
I mean if you say so. Seems less like critical thinking and more like overthinking to come up with the wrong conclusion, which is pretty much the complete opposite. But you do you I guess, you seem happy enough, if wrong a lot.
There won’t be any morey quotes saying that les wouldn’t let him tank because no GM would ever say it, it’s not how they operate. He has absolutely said that building from the middle is the worst/hardest way to build (duh), and every analytics driven person believes in tanking. You have to completely go against all logic AND analytics to conclude that Morey is the one who didn’t want to tank (when the rockets were completely hopeless before harden).
You don't need to convince me, I was there too. It's common knowledge, we don't need to try and dig up obscure evidence. If he really wants he can probably watch old Rockets games and see/hear pundits and announcers mention it in passing. It's not like it was some mystery leak or something lol.
Are you some sort of Morey apologist? The only young guys on that team worth mentioning were James Harden and Patrick Bev who was traded for a much older Cp3. Dmo? Isnt he a bust? Trevor Ariza is 29, thats kinda old I mean nobody would call him part of a young core. Terry is old. Corey Brewer is a role player like JSean Tate. Josh Smith 29 is also old. Tjones 23 is a bust. Apart from James Harden who was 25 which young guy on this team looks like he'll be part of a core? Patbev like is the only other decent young guy but like I said wasnt he shipped out for Cp3? And this is technically a team that only lasted 2 yrs, after that was the MDA era and all these guys were gone except for Harden, Patbev and Ariza. Rockets KD, FVV, Adams, Capela these are also old guys the difference is they are only part of the team. Rockets have Amen, Sengun, Reed, Tari and Jabari literally 1/3 of the roster is below 25. How is that the same as James Harden being the only 25 yr old? But but but DMo was 24 Crazy, and you tell me I'm the one preaching fiction when almost all these guys were gone in 2 yrs? You know if you are such a Morey dick rider why dont you go follow him to Philly?
As GM thats part of his job to recognize when to cut bait. For example Presti traded PG to Clippers at age 28, when he was in his prime and an all star. If Morey was the GM no way he trades Paul George for SGa and 5 picks, hell he signed old PG to a 5 yr max deal. Only Morey apologists like astrorule and baubo act like Morey did a great job in Philly. Reality is Morey had the 3rd/4rth best SG ever for over a decade and never got to the Finals. Then he had an MVP for over 5 yrs and never got out of the 2nd round. Given what he had to work with and large amount of time I think he is underwhelming at best. When he first got hired Morey was amazing and his analytics approach revolutionized basketball. However after he got Harden he made so many missteps that Harden just covered up. Harden never had any consistency, he never had a solid core of teammates that could grow alongside him. Dwight Howard, Ty Lawson, Cp3, none of these guys stuck around and Ty Lawson was even a drunk.
When you hate someone, you HATE them with all of your heart and soul. You are the same with reed, to the point where you once said that stephon castle, who is complete and utter trash as a shooter, was a better shooter than him. You are completely incapable of any rational thought/discussion when it comes to people that you despise, no matter how absurd or nonsensical, you will not give in. You think Morey sucks, that's fine, you're entitled to any opinion you want.
Castle was indeed shooting better than Reed when I said that. I'm just basing it on stats. You act like Reed has been shooting like Steph Curry the entire season. Did you forget the time Reed was averaging 20% from 3? I didnt. Oh but wait saying that is absurd hating, my bad I forgot Reed was supposed to be cocaine curry, now we should be happy he shot worse than Jalen Green from 3. Just him being on the court is a blessing for the Rockets. Absurd one is you. You still act like Morey is the best GM after what he has done in philly. Thats why you cant answer my question it breaks your entire world view. Morey best GM ever even after what he has done in Philly just like Reed Sheppard is the best shooter ever amirite? lol
ok great. Let’s say that’s the case. Then why are people blaming Morey? Why are people saying he’s a lousy GM when all he did was folllow orders? If you disagreed with your boss but he wants to go a different direction with the resources given you and mandated you to work within narrow parameters then how can someone blame you? You tried your best under these constraints. And what did Morey do in Philly? Exactly the same star chasing and wheeling dealing strategy. This quote perfectly sums up his tenure here as GM “You don’t fool yourself, you take a lot of chances, you cut your losses quickly. That’s all you can do.”
Who's saying he's a lousy GM? There's always gonna be some wacko fringe haters for everyone. If lebron and jokic can have haters, so can Morey. Just ignore those people, easy peasy.
Your account says 2016 but are you like just now becoming a sports fan? Or are you just gaslighting because you don't like Morey and prefer to just believe he had essentially owner level decision making?
Both can be true Les Alexander doesnt want to tank because all he cares about is money, he bought the team and milked the **** out of china thats why the team didnt even have a proper gym even if they were the 4rth most profitable team. Alexander also wanted MDA because MDA ball is exciting and would butts in seats. However Morey himself doesnt want to wait and rebuild thru the draft, when he left the team the Rockets havent drafted a player in the first round in the last 5 yrs. The stars he tried to pair with Harden have always been old Dwight Howard 29, Ty Lawson 28, Chris Paul 32. When he stumbled into young guys Marcus Morris, Patrick Bev and Harrell they were shipped out for vets like Cp3 and Lou Will. Now in Philly who did he sign to play with Embiid? 32 yr old Paul George lol. Morey had full control in Philly. He chose old retreads in Rockets and now PG his preference still in doubt? lol
