This may be the most poorly worded sentence I have ever read. I also really like the line about Lebron being quite likely to average a triple double, when he's actually a good four rebounds and four assists per game away nearly halfway through the season.
This is really silly. Duh, of course he's valuable to the team. I don't know what that has anything to do with MVP consideration (which the writer then peculiarly admitted he shouldn't be given ). Awkward article. Admire the sentiment though.
Yao's numbers are down in minutes, assists, rebounds and points from last year. I am actually upset at the way Yao is playing this year. He is the Rox best player, but he is not even close to how he was playing last year before he got injured.
No, there are already too many candidates, why do you think Yao is better than them? Right now the team has many problems, last thing to do is the talk of a MVP in the team.
To be honest, no. Especially because he cannot take over the game in last 2 minutes consistently. Lets be realistic. Not his fault or anything like he has no heart, he is simply not athletic enough to seal the deal. Every fans should know how much he cares, how hard he works and how he fights for a win. Actually our TMAC the talent has this ability to close up but he is mentally weak these days. Hope TMAC can come back 100% sometime, Yao and this team need TMAC to make noise in playoffs.
IMO Yao is like a fart, silent but deadly. He's a sleeper candidate for MVP, and without Tracy and Ron Ron, a Lakers win would only solidify that.
Yao's within striking distance. He's definitely in the top 15 of all NBA players and that's not terribly close to the top but not terribly far either. If the Rockets can make a run here and get a good enough record with Yao putting up 20+/10+, I'm sure we'll see his name pop up into the discussion more often.
I can't believe this is a Rockets fan forum - you people are rational and dispassionate for your own star player.
Yao the MVP? Is that a joke? The only way Yao can get the MVP is through public voting just like the all-star voting.
You posters have so much faith in Yao, it's sickening! I read that article, the writer may not be a Pulitzer winner but he has more faith in Yao than most of you here. Yao has some short comings, but MVP why not? If he can consistently put in a double doulble on nightly basis, and our team keeps on winning heading to the playoffs. MVP, why not?
I definitely agreed with the article. Yao is not the MVP but at least should be acknowledged. If this team is healthy, Yao would be playing as MVP probably.
