Moochie Norris cost us that game against the Clips. If you look at the other side of the coin, he's also won couple games last year with a last second shot. With that being said.... I think he sucks... really really really bad. Nobody wants him. The only way to get rid of him would probably be for a second round pick. We have Tito Maddox. Give the kid a chance. I know he's as good or better than Moochie. Moochie should be playing for the YMCA league... not the NBA.
I just want to say a few things. My biggest criticism of Rudy are his god-awful rotations. Supposedly, he goes with his "feelings". Occasionally, I can actually see that work. More often, I can't. A couple of games ago, he let Eddie kill us. Eddie was getting the ball in the corner in the third quarter almost completely uncovered. Instead of driving to the hoop, he pump faked a few times and either wound up with a weak pass-off or clanked a long jumper after the defense had closed. He played the whole third quarter (Mavs). Last year, Moochie played most of the 4th quarter in virtually every game he was healthy. Moochie is a horrible defender. Can anyone name me a worse defender at pg? Maybe there is someone I'm forgetting, but the list sure as hell isn't very long. How good does a guy have to be offensively to make up for that. I know they weren't head to head the whole game, but Dooling was 8-10 yesterday. Even when he is hitting shots, his offense leaves a lot to be desired. He is the human bobblehead out there. Bob n' weave, bob n' weave...hey, who pushed that buzzer. Whatch mean carrying the ball? That other guy was doin' it. Moochie should hardly leave the bench, based on his pitiful defense alone. I thought Rudy was about mismatches. Rudy drools when the other team rests their center. It gives him an excuse to put in his little dribblin' buddy. God forbid that Yao take advantage of a mismatch.
Norris had to play because Hawkins couldn't hit the side of a barn. If Mobley hadn't been injured, Moochie wouldn't have been allowed to make as many mistakes. Moochie is taking a disproportionate amount of the blame here. The Rockets did not get down by 17 points because of Moochie.
Wholeheartedly disagree. True Rox did not get down by 17 because of only Moochie. But they did lose the game because of him. Under 2 minutes to go he misses 2 free throws and he turns the ball over on an unforced turnover (carried the ball). That is 2 possessions in the last 90 seconds where we get nothing because of Moochie. 2 out of about 4 possessions where we got no points because of him. If he doesn't deserve the blame then who does? Steve missed a free throw too and may have turned it over but he also had 30 points, 8 steals, and great #'s in rebounds and assists so he doesn't deserve any blame. Moochie doesn't get the same benefit.
when is rudy going to realize that the game has changed! all the 1-on-1 isolation plays that cat and moochie used to be so effective in IS NO LONGER allowed in the nba. all the good nba teams (mavs, kings, nets, sonics) have good ball movement. all this dribbling crap that cat and mooch always do, belongs on the and1 tour, not the nba!
I'd rather give the minutes to Nachbar. Instead of PG Moochie, SG Francis, why not PG Francis, SG Nachbar.
It's true that Hawkins was having a bad shooting night, but then Mooch wasn't exactly lighting it up himself. More importantly, if it's late in the game and my team has the lead, I would rank the following player qualities the highest: 1) Court intelligence. 2) Defense. 3) The ability to hit free throws. Mooch falls more than a little bit short of Hawkins in all 3 of those categories and I really don't think his offense is all that better either.
i dont think thats true. like i said earlier, the spurs commentators were raving about him a few games ago. hell, they called him one of our "weapons"!!! seriously, other folks around the league consider him a very serviceable PG and i remember hearing on a few occasions that he could even start for some teams!!! if thats the case, the rox need to do something ASAP!!! before his stock plummets.
I know Moochie made mistakes before, but I did consider him one of our 'threats'...until this year. I normally am very positive about the coaches, players and team, and I feel not too quick to criticize. But I feel that Moochie played better when he first joined the team. He had fire then, now he's acting like the fat contract took the wind out of his sails (or the brain out of his head). I'm willing to consider that he's in some kind of slump (what kind of slump makes you dribble the clock out AFTER A TIMEOUT I'll never know ), but I think he'd better get back on track soon or he WILL be wearing a different jersey before season-end.
Many of you seem to think well of Moochie based on last year. I do not know why. Moochie, except in the last minute or so of games, was terrible last year. He did hit a few clutch shots at the end of games, which left you with some fond memories. Sorry fellows... if you suck until the end of the game, and then hit a game winning shot... well, the game wouldn't've gone down to the wire had you not sucked earlier. So it's not a net gain. I liked Moochie... two years ago. Two years ago, he was a breath of fresh air at the PG position. It looked like he actually ran the offense better than Francis. He was hungry. He had been in the CBA, etc, too long. He followed the coaches instructions. He did what he was supposed to do. Last year, and this year, he's become a sideshow freak. Look at Moochie's fro! It used to be a cool plus. Now it's pretty much all he brings to the table. Where we used to have hunger, now we've got bad decisions. Since he hit a few nice clutch shots, he now thinks he should shoot the ball every time the clock's running down. If Rudy thinks so, too... it'd be better if he'd missed the same shots last year. Moochie's making terrible decisions. He's a PG. And he doesn't have the Francis-esque athleticism and flair to make up for it. Bench moochie. Make him remember how he played 2 years ago. If he can bring that back... then we've got a great back-up 1. If not... well, he can take his hair to Europe.
Did anyone doubt the psyche health of Rudy T? Receicving Hard punch decades ago, plus heavy smoking and hard drinking. His brain power diminish without knowing how to close the game
