I stand corrected by where you got your data from...nonetheless this metric is useless. I will give you an example to prove my point. Say the Rockets play Boston, Cleveland, and the LA Lakers in their first three games of the season and won each game. Furthermore, say that Cleveland and LA played a game before they played the Rockets but they each lost. The record regarding beating teams of 0.500 or better at the time the Rockets played them would have been 0-0 in this scenario. Do you follow me? Alright now say that the next game for the Rockets is against the Oklahoma Thunder who beat Memphis but lost to Minny and have a 0.500. In this scenario our record against teams with a record of 0.500 or better at the time that the Rockets played them would be 1-0. That is why this is a flawed metric. Basically, games towards teams have had 82 games to provide an averaged winning percentage that approaches the NBA's statistical mean winning percentage. The only advantage to the metric presented by the NBA is when the star player is injured and has to miss the season and the team can not survive with them or when a major trade changes the team dynamic. Otherwise, the metric is a wash because it shouldn't count the first few games. So the best way to look at it is the way that I presented it. Hence, the Rockets are 11-11 against teams that have a record of 0.500 as of today (Jan 18). I know you didn't come up with the metric so I hope you are not offended by my comments. I just don't feel that this metric is mathematically sound and this quoted point goes a mile to prove my point. ------- On a side note, trust me when I say that most people that were looking at that stat and were excited about it were fooled. In their minds they are thinking playoff teams not wins against NJ, and Memphis.
If you would have told me that we would lose T-mac and Artest for more than 10 games each I would say we would be in the cellar. I'm happy to see our Bench Mob lead by example. This is the best ench in the NBA no doubt anbout it. hopefully Ron and Tracy can come back and push us over the top.
Yao is still here and plays well. i am happy Uncle tom tom is back, and boys, we've found brooks and wafer. pity Tmac and battier don't have many decent games just yet. i guess they will soon. alston should go back to be a brick worker. i wish we have a better coach. overall, i am happy. potential is there. we need momentum. No.1 seed here we come.
I'm not happy but I'm not mad. I'm disappointed. So many losses by this team because they came out flat. If they had played with more emotion they would of won. Also losing to the Spurs(w/o Parker and Ginobli) and losing to the Pacers when leading by the double digits in the 4th qt. is disappointing.
I'm okay with our record, but am disappointed in how we got here. The team has still not been able to build any chemistry do to the injuries.
I have lowered my expectation. At the beginning of the season, I expected the rockets to be a title contender. Now, if the rocekts can pass the 1st round, I will be happy.
I think the team is below my expectations, even with the injuries. I firmly believe that Adelman and Morey let the Tmac situation go on too long and it cost the team 3 or 4 wins. This team even without Artest and TMac is a 54+ win team.... I think with Artest and Tmac.....or even just ONE of them they are the 2nd best team in the WC...... So IMO, not happy, not satisfied.....but want more from them...a nice double digit win streak will get them back on track, IMO. DD
This is about where I thought the team would be, I don't really care where the team is in the playoff picture...as long as they make the playoffs with everyone or most people healthy. Doesn't really matter who we play either. I think we could beat most teams in West with a full squad intact. I knew LA wasn't as great as people were making them out to be...I know if Houston brings their A+ to B game against them in a series, we have a great shot at winning. I think if we just beat SA or LA, we'll pretty much win the West...Denver and New Orleans don't really strike feat into anybody. We are probably on set for 52 - 56 wins as is right now. That will get us 3 - 5, which is fine and will probably avoid a 1st round meeting with SA and LA.
