    How about one ring, then?

I don't get this argument; it seems entirely ridiculous. As if every team in the f'n league has some sort of birthright to multiple rings.

Getting to the playoffs multiple times in successive years is hard. Winning the SB is supremely difficult.

Ask any Texans fan if he would trade our first nine years for Cowher's "every other year of the playoff with nothing to show for it."

A superbowl ring is not the only measure of success Landry. Kubiak has failed (my def. is a non winning season) as many times in 5 years as Cowher did in 15 years.

Winning a superbowl is hard. You have to have a lot of things work for you, including your players staying healthy and not making crucial mistakes. In his first 5 years as a head coach, Kubiak has done NOTHING to suggest he can produce the type of success Cowher did.

Seriously. If we could sign Cowher and be guaranteed we would get exactly what he gave to Pittsburgh, 1 ring in 15 years but a lot of playoff games and a lot of exciting, compelling playoff contending football year in year out, I'd take with no questions asked.

Not only that, the NFL is a league of parity. Dynasties are rare, and they even don't win back2back2back championships like you'll see in other sports.

I guess if you want to remain the Lions of the AFC then you don't hire a coach with success. You continue this losers mentality for years to come and then you eventually become the Clippers of the NFL.

Andy Reid has 0 rings. Is there no difference between he and Kubiak then?

Tony Dungy has 1 ring. is that the only difference between he and Kubiak? Just give Kubiak all the years and maybe one day he'll get the ring Dungy got and they can be called the same as head coaches?

Rings are horrible ways to measure success because they are so hard to get and so far out of control of a coach.

Cowher is a great coach because he took a franchise that had fallen into a state of mediocrity and turned into one of sustained excellence for more than a decade. A level that is still being held over today by the culture he instilled.

"So you're telling me I can have a Superbowl winning, playoff proven coach... or whatever assistant coach is behind door number three?!?! This is tough.."

That's funny coming from fans of a team that's NEVER been to the playoffs. "Ya, he gets to the playoffs every other year.. but that gets boring!"

    You're too much.

let me know when schaub plays defense. back to the original topic. you know damn well that cowher would have zero qualms about taking on a team with schaub at the helm.

    Agreed.

Here is what Kubiak has to show for his tenure though....0-0 playoff record.

Guess what? You can't win the superbowl without getting to the playoffs first. When the Texans start going to the playoffs then we can start talking about actually winning a championship.

Let me know when Romo plays defense. Y'all have had more No. 1 draft picks on defense. No excuse. Cowher will not come to Houston. He has qualms with Schuab and that defense at the helm.
