Is this the ******* who's ******* of a father made that incredibly offensive comment about the rape? And the b*stard got 6 months? Really? The father should have gotten the 6 months for shooting his mouth off, and his son should have gotten at least a decade or more, in my humble opinion.

Don't you mean that our justice system is severely biased against the poor?

Or is economy only a factor when you feel like it?

Both are factors. If you are poor and African American, you are screwed.

This whole thing is unsettling. I have seen numerous people on FB trying to defend the verdict. Really????

Nothing wrong with the verdict. He was convicted of what he was supposed to be convicted of. It's the punishment that's outrageously stupid.

Yes, it's worse than that. Hillary defended a rapist as was her duty as a lawyer. The rapist was found guilty, and the plea bargain had to have been agreed to by both sides in the case.

The victim should be mad at Hillary, and it is by no means a positive for Clinton at all.

The poor victim in that case really suffered, and was obviously traumatized by what happened and had ongoing suffering because of the incident. That's the real tragedy here.

But having the rapist serve a longer sentence wouldn't have helped her. It is my belief that the guy deserved a longer sentence. I'm sorry that the victim and prosecutors accepted a plea deal allowing the guy to only have to serve 12 months.

I'm curious as to how strong the defense and evidence was. Rich dad supposedly hired good lawyers, and that makes all the difference. How many charges did the defendant have and was he found not guilty of any?

In the judges own words, the fact that she intended to go out as a 23 year-old non-student and party with underclassmen at Stanford while consuming blackout-inducing quantities of alcohol, had something to do with the sentence the dude got.

Can you link to the specifics?

If true, that is absolutely idiotic of the judge.

This individual intended to drink alcohol until the point that she would pass out. At least no information or suggestion suggests that she was drugged against her will. And there is some indication that he too was intoxicated.

Edit: That statement is directed at the defendant, not the claimant.

It's not saying that since she wanted to get drunk, he's less culpable.

It's saying that since he was drunk, he is less culpable.

Her desire to get drunk doesn't really have any relevance to the crime. I'm also not sure that "at least he didn't drug her" is proper grounds to reduce the sentence to 6 months.

If the judge used either one of those things as justification to reduce his sentence he needs to be removed from the bench immediately.

Was she trying to have a good time or commit suicide?

Wasn't the situation that she was unconscious when he found her and then he raped her? If so, I'm not sure the relevance of her alcohol intake. Whether she was unconscious due to drinking or a medical condition or being beaten up, it doesn't seem like it would affect the facts of the story. Or if the jury didn't believe the story that she was actually unconscious already, that should be reasonable doubt and he should have been found non-guilty.
