VesceySux, I should have added that that was my point of view as a collector in Australia. You might be able to get 99c packs over there, but we dont imports every single set of basketball cards into Australia. ;)

If you ask me the majority of cards should cost $2.

Cheap packets are good, I also have no problem with the premium packets costing and arm and a leg. But the majority of cards are over priced in my opinion.

And where is the stick of chewing gum! :D

Vescey, try to get the picture of the cards on the front of the box too. It helps the buyer in the store and on e-bay.

My favorite year base cards were the 1998 Skybox E-X cards (Topps Tek ripped them off on their design - but I like the Tek cards too) followed closely by the 1997 Skybox E-X cards. The 1998 Pacific Crown Royale card looked good - like a set of inserts. 1998 Score Artist Proofs are pretty cool looking. Funny that most of what I consider are the nicer cards were made by low cost card companies. I guess making cards like that cost too much money to produce but they looked nicer than any of todays cards.

I like E-X as well. They are no doubt my favorite.

    Been there, done that.

Tried to get baby pictures. They're hard to acquire. I know another card company did this once...

Sure, those cards might be great for the secondary market... YEARS from now. Today, they would be worthless, and the product would never sell. Plus, we may have to pay royalties to Little League for using their name and logo. Not worth it.

I've suggested this in the past. Might be a good idea, although with most athletes, fingerprinting may bring up bad memories. :D

    Gel? Explain. I don't follow.

    I'll suggest it. Good idea.

Might be hard to coordinate. This could work for A-Rod, since he's now our spokesman (and must do whatever we say... muh ha ha ha!!).

Not enough "pro families" to really field a product with. In football this year, we already did a Manning family auto card.

Depends on the product. In most basic value brands, when talking about BASE cards and not insert or "chase" cards, the answer to your questions is YES and YES. In high end brands, though, that feature autograph and relic base cards, the answer to your questions would be NO and NO. Why? Let's take Eli Manning for example. He may want $30 an autograph card. At that price, you'd find less of his autograph base card in the set than you would of... oh, say... Sloan Thomas, who might only want $2-$5 a card. Therefore, there may only be 100 Eli Manning base cards in the product, but 1000 of Sloan Thomas. (Keep in mind that this is just one simple example.)

Oh boy. This might take all day to explain. The short version: Insert cards are non-base cards thrown into the product for consumers to chase. Most of the time, they take the form of autograph cards or memorabilia cards ("relics"), although sometimes they're just regular cards built around a theme.

    Honestly, I don't know.

You're SOL, mate. :) You'll just have to buy boxes (or cases!).

You'll find gum in boxes of Bazooka or Heritage.

Most of the time, we prefer to put a player image on the box (as opposed to cards). Marketing seems to think the product will sell better that way.

If you want to see the cards of any Topps product, I'd suggest checking out our site . Yes, the site is not that good, but it's at least something to look at...

My kids have always loved baseball, since we have 4 kids, we the only cards we buy is the .99 ones or the 1.99 ones. They love getting packs when we go to the store. We always get Topps, they seem to be the best buy.

The gum was the best part. Buy a pack of cards on the way to school, stick the gum in your moyth, look through the cards you got.....

    Ah the memories.... :D

Did you guys use to play "Flicks" with your cards at school before their value was really a concern to you?

You flick you cards at a wall and the person who's card is the closest to the wall wins all the cards that have been flicked?

Also....why did was have to grow up! :D

Personally, I loved collecting. Still dabble in it nowadays, hoping to pull a $62K card (GOOD GOD, try reading Beckett Mag and NOT getting mad at the rich b*stard who pulled a 1/1 Dual Logo patch...)

Of all the "memorabilia" cards, the autos are the most classic, the jerseys will be the "fad that fades", and the film/floor memorabilia ideas were the biggest flops, IMO...next to the player-worn headbands and shoes and hats...

I can't hate on you VS, because, hell, let's face it, we'd all love to be workin in your shoes...it's a childhood dream of mine, really:D . Just keep up the good work! Can I get a free sample now? :D
