He covers the Mavericks now. Kind of ironic.

I think Ewing will be a good addition. I know lots of fans across the league hate him and think he was a bit of a dirty player, but he Rocket's are already perceived as kind of a dirty team by fans in other cities anyways. I say embrace that image and go with the flow. Play mean, tough, and do whatever it takes to win.

Hey, I didn't say I agreed with it. But I have alot of friends in other cities and when we go out and talk basketball everyone we meet seems to say the Rox are a bit underhanded in the way they play, and often argue with the refs too much, commit too many fouls and then complain, etc. I think its mostly Stevie they accuse of being kind of a dirty player. I have heard people say that Rudy was the only classy person on the Rockets. I don't agree with it, but i've read the same kind of talk on some NBA message boards also.

I say go with the image, make ourselves into a hot-tempered team that takes no crap.

Otherwise we risk ending up like the Dallas Mavericks.

You know who doesn't get credit for making Hakeem any good. Cadillac Anderson.

He's right...that talk is out there. But most of their reputation, outside of Yao, is that they are "basketball stupid", arrogant(with no reason to be), whiny, classless, and immature.

Most of the talk centers around the Rockets being supremely talented individuals who will never reach their potential because of the qualities listed above.

Sad to say Ewing is right. Yao should be the dominat center next to Shaq.

Yao is 7'5 w/ athletic ability, passing skills, and nice jump shot.

What other center is out there?

What I find amusing is those of you that still have some sort of chilidish animosity towards Patrick Ewing. Why the hell for? We won a very hard fought NBA Championship against his Knicks in 1994. He wasn't dirty and played his balls off. If anything, HE would be the one to have some sort of reservation about coming HERE, because of that very fact. He's a very classy guy and we should be welcoming him with open arms. Especially to instill instant respect to their new coach, whom subsequently is under a LOT of pressure.

Alot of different posters talk about whether or not the Rockets have class or not. Im wondering where the class is on here.

What the hell are you talking about? What's he supposed to say when they ask him about Yao? No comment? He's seen him play in the NBA, he should be allowed to have an opinion.

And what do mean he talks too much. What's he supposed to do when he's being interviewed? Sit in silence?

Imagine if Ewing has answered 'no comment' to that question, he would be hammered on this board.

I don't see why not welcome Ewing to be assistant if Moses & Hakeem is not available. In fact, I think we should hire Moses, Hakeem & Ewing to coach the big man.

All these great bigs are going to be good for Yao. However, Ewing is the closest big man coach we're going to get.

I don't understand how Hakeem & Moses saying they want to teach Yao and then nothing happens?

Why should our feathers be ruffled? I mean, he beat us while he was at Georgetown, but Hakeem showed him up in the REAL finals.

I think Ewing is a quality big man whose words and knowledge of the game as it is played today could be invaluable to Yao, Cato, Griff, and even MoT, if any of them will just listen. Ewing has done a lot more than anyone we have under contract (except Rice, of course). The only thing we need to find out is if his knowledge of the game can be imparted to our players.

I am MORE than willing and happy to welcome Ewing to do everything he can to help our guys progress.

Maybe Steve will listen to Ewing when HE tells the kid to pass the rock to Yao.
